Can the Courses tool please get some bug fixes?
Courses are expensive. They need a functional Courses tool to take full advantage of the course material.
Tonight, I happened to bump into several Course tool bugs, and ended up making no real progress with the course itself. That's a little frustrating.
I've reported at least seven different Courses tool bugs, some as far back as 2016, that still need some attention.
I really don't desire to cancel outstanding course pre-pubs or return recent course purchases. Thinking that I need to escalate these issues, I'm now collectively posting these issues to the Mobile Ed team, hoping that will be sufficient, and they can get the developers to bump the priority of a few of these cases.
The more critical issues are:
- Can't view any other segment's video once you've collapsed the video split view. Disruptively requires quitting and restarting Courses tool.
- Can't complete individual readings from HB101. Game-stopper, no work around.
- Can't display note indicator when note is part of RTL text. No note indicator means there's no way to preview the note.
The inconvenient issues are:
- Can't attach Courses tool selection to existing note.
- Can't expand/collapse Faithlife Study Bible notes.
- Unused space where Courses tool locator bars used to appear.
- Content appears differently in Courses tool, than in separate tab.
I really do like Mobile Ed, and the opportunity it provides me, but the Courses tool seems to be neglected now.
Thanks for any help you can provide to resolve that impression and these issues.
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Thanks for pulling this feedback together, Petah! I'll look into scheduling some improvements for the Courses tool over the next couple of two-week sprints for our dev teams.

Thanks very much, Phil! I wasn't expecting a VP to get involved, but definitely appreciate the help!
Thanks also for taking the time to reply on a holiday.

I'm seeing this and also noticing that when i reduce the size of the video window while video is playing but do not completely minimize it, the video will often just stop a bit after that and nothing will restart it.
In my opinion, i'd prefer the video and the text be side by side instead of vertically stacked. It's too hard yo follow along with the text the way it is laid out currently.

I find the course tool very restrictive in how I can work with the video and textbook. I much prefer to bypass the course tool for mobile ED and use a reading list to track my progress. I am then free to have my own layout.
While watching the video this takes up centre position of my screen with the textbook off to the right. If I miss something the instructor says I can pause the video and check the text otherwise I focus on the video as first step.
Having watched the video I then close that window and move the textbook back to the centre of the screen and read the textbook closely and now have my highlighting panel in view where if I don't have a short cut key for the highlight I want I can quickly access it.
When I am ready to do one of the readings that resource then become the central focus of my layout. I find three columns easiest for me to read and once again have my highlighting palette on the right ready to to go if required.
The only time I normally use the courses tool on the desktop for a mobile ED tool is to identify if I am missing any of the required reading material.
Otherwise for me workflow wise my own workspace if much more efficient.
I do use the courses tool for the non mobile Ed stuff, so thanks Peta for keeping FL honest on making the required improvements and thanks Phil for responding to Peta's call out.l

When it comes to the quizzes... I would like it if when you get something wrong it shows what the right answer is and where to find it. This would help me greatly. All it shows now is green check or red x

Great suggestion! Sometimes where the answer comes from is not all that clear.

If I may add three more issues I've found with the Courses Tool:
1) Sometimes the section boundaries are way out of whack. See my post re "30 Words" for example. The sectioning is so bad for that resource that you miss half of some of the sections.
2) Upon successfully finishing the course you are not always given credit. The above book "30 Words" is a good example. Also, I've noted before that you can't delete finished courses from your desktop listing.
3) Back to sections. I'm currently doing the "All Roads Lead to the Text" course. There are only 12 chapters (sections) in this 360+ page book. Each course section is quite large. I am having to bread each section into manageable parts. I, and I suspect most people, don't have the time to finish a full chapter at one setting. And when I go back to the course, I find that I am put at the beginning of the section each day. Please, either break up the course into more manageable sections, or remember where we left off and not put us back at the beginning of a section each time.
Thank you!

Great idea, DoC. The courses tool is quite cumbersome. Are there reading lists for each course? Is it possible to make our own reading lists for whatever we want? Reading lists I’ve always baffled me.
