    How about exporting Notes?

Presumably this would encompass also preserving such links when importing in from L3?

I meant the ability (without leaving the Note document) to embed a word with a link using the libronixdls protocol to open a book in my library to a specific point. Right now I have to create a link in Word and then past it into a note file.

A few more thoughts for notes:

    • Add the Underline button to go with the Bold and Italic buttons on the formatting toolbar.
    • Include indenting on the Table of Contents to indicate outline hierarchy (like L3) with twisties to expand or compress the list sections like the TOC on resources.
    • include the color selected for the note in the Table of Contents (like L3).
    • Choice of including notes when exporting or printing a Bible passage with a note attached (or for that matter, notes attached to any resource).
      • Option to embed notes in output (indented right after the verse/text the note is attached to) or as a footnote at the bottom of the output.
    • Choice of including the Bible text (preferred Bible) when exporting or printing a note attached to a Bible passage (or for that matter, whatever text the note is attached to from any resource).
      • Same option to embed or footnote associated text with notes output.

Thank you team for building the list - neat to see all the ideas that can make this a powerful tool.  I love it!

    • Ability to make notes / comments on notes

29 seems pointless - just add your note to main note body at end of text..
    31 is a repeat on 14

27 is alread in Beta12 with ecxeption of Underline and multiple list formats, bullet and numbered are included

30 cant see that happening, would need another layer on the UI, and there are better progs out there that already do it..

Paul thanks for re-collating new requests, are you able to delete the old list revisions?  it might help reducing duplicate requests

    >> 29 seems pointless - just add your note to main note body at end of
    text..

Not pointless - depends on how you use notes. If I copy and paste a bible verse/range into notes I would like notes already made on that ref to 'pop-up'.

I'd also prefer if i'd referenced a Gk or Heb word to write a pop-up note reminding me of it's definition/morphology/other places used in text without that disrupting the flow of my reading the note unless I wanted to drill further down

    >> 31 is a repeat on 14

yes agreed - as long as the hyperlinks are to local files

    >> 27 is alread in Beta12 with ecxeption of Underline and multiple list
formats, bullet and numbered are included

Cool! Haven't got beta installed - would still think multi-list formats is a useful addition though

    >>30 cant see that happening, would need another layer on the U

Isn't that the point of this thread to give ideas for improving notes! Truthfully I can't seed it happening either, but that doesn't invalidate it as a request!

I'm not sure it would need "another layer" - the functionality is built-in with the drawing mode (it's actually not all that difficult to program - the first proper Win32 program I wrote in C before any frameworks was a scribble program - I think the technical difficultly would be including it in the file format when saving - as an image??)

    >>there are better progs out there that already do it..

Careful, this seems to be Bob's argument about not enhancing notes at all. Frankly there are better progs out there for ALL of the features in this thread. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be included as a 'wish list' The whole point is to try and integrate some of the 'best practise' "out there" into Logos - so it doesn't require users to need multiple programs for their Bible study

    >>Paul thanks for re-collating new requests

Agreed - very useful thanks Paul!

    >>are you able to delete the old list revisions?  it might help reducing
    duplicate requests

Agreed that would be useful - not sure it is possible though.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my responses to your comments. [:D]

I appreciate the creation of this thread as notes are by far the worst feature of Logos 4 currently preventing it be an all-in-one bible study resource.

    Every blessing,

    James

If it's too late to delete an old post (you only have a small window of opportunity to do that), you've still got 18 hours from the time it was posted to edit it. So one could edit one's post, remove all the text of the list, and just leave a line saying "superseded; removed by author" or something to that effect.

To delete or edit a post, click on the More menu to the right of it, and choose Delete or Edit (if available). Obviously, you can only delete or edit your own posts.

    I disagree.

There's a big difference between saying, "Go over there and look at this, here's the link." and "here it is!"

Of course I view hyperlinks as links to anywhere and attachments as one step closer to embedding.  To which I would add my desire to embed such items.  :-)  Up the ante.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

When attaching a note to a word (or phrase) in any Bible with a lemma layer (Greek, Hebrew, Interlinear, Reverse Interlinear), attach the note to the lemma of that word (or first word of a phrase) so the note is available in the same verse and word in other Bibles that also have the lemma layer.

    Hi Dominic,

I went ahead an made some edits to the list, combining like requests.

    DominicM said:

I can see what your are saying, and it goes along with Logos' philosophy of not wanting to "rebuild the wheel" so-to-speak. But there are many users (like me) who would love to see L4 as a "one stop" go-to tool, that doesn't require the use of another program to accomplish goals.

    DominicM said:

are you able to delete the old list revisions?  it might help reducing duplicate requests

Like Rosie said, no. The main reason that I'm adding the requests to the list goes along with your original purpose for this post. For the last 5 months when ever there has been a post about desired features for notes, it becomes so long that it makes it hard (for me anyway) to remember all the requests. I figured with a updated list at the end of the post, it would help those who view it get a quick idea of requests so far.

Thanks for starting something good! [Y]

Any word from Logos whether this list of features represents pipe dreams or possible reality at some point?  For me, note-taking is the primary activity I perform as I read and study and notes are the primary output of my labours.  I would guess that this is the case for many (if not most) others too. Thus, anything that improves Logos' ability to capture and manage notes can only be good for the product long-term.

Might a Logos heavyweight (Bob, perhaps?) comment on this wishlist?

Yes, it is "officially endorsed" -- it was announced here on the forum by Bob Pritchett himself. It's experimental so far, but they'll definitely be paying attention to it:

if you want to - be my guest - but is it "officially endorsed"?

I would think that when Bob P. announces it as an experiment it is officially endorsed. I think that the initial results may not be super-helpful because some of the features requested have already been committed to. And it will take a bit of time for people to learn how to word requests effectively. But when I look at how the requests and priorities are sorting out, I am encouraged that it will become representative and useful.
