Hello, I’m Finally understanding a year of questioning.  I subscribe logos through « edition clé », I never received any explanation in French for all your communications. It seems that you don’t Consider the languages of your subscribers. It’s a bit perturbating. Can’t you find any good willing servants to organise your communications in différent languages? Will be good goal! Thank you for your new explanation, God bless you...

I don't know how helpful it will be, but Logos does have a French forum here: http://community.logos.com/forums/120.aspx

I'm still not following or understanding whether those of us who used the Coupon, will have things automatically reversed.

For example, I used the Coupon to upgrade to Logos 7 Full Feature Set. If I leave this thing alone, is that wiped out and I'm automatically reinstated to Logos Now? Or is that something one is going to have to call Home Office about? Anyone have an idea?

I'll say as I did in another thread ... thank you so much Bob for doing what you have. This is nothing short of tremendous on your part.

    Two quick questions, Bob:

    1. Some customers who already used the coupon code are asking what do they need to do if they want to transition to Faithlife Connect (No Resources) if they already used the coupon code. I'm not one of them, but some are wondering.

    2. Can you make another "undo"? The new multiple shades of green coloring behind all the Faithlife services icons is literally causing my vision issues when I try to browse Faithlife website or look at the icons on my iPhone and iPad. Can you pick a single shade of green and use it for the background behind all Faithlife services icons moving forward (it's not just green, any spectrum of colors together interferes with my vision problems. On the days when people change their Facebook profile pics with rainbow colors, I literally get dizzy because the color shifting doesn't lineup correctly when I look at it. I probably need to strengthen my glasses prescription).

    Thanks!

I don't like the multiple shades of green, but you need to start with an optician and a colour photo of the Faithlife service icons!

The announcement says you can still go with the initial offer, if you wish, you will have to talk with them but they will let you keep the FaithLife starter with the 200 dollar offer, dropping the grandfathered option.  One reason for this may be because people like me showed that the library option has many books already purchased in the libraries of packages.  I had one of three I think in the Essentials package and about one of two in the starters and no price reduction for either package.  This option, I loose the books I do not have, but keep everything I have with Logos Now..

The question about the coupon was answered.  The statement is the Logos now (FaithLife Connect Essentials  no Library will not that is repeat not have a coupon for two hundred dollars iwith it.  If you want the two hundred dollar coupon you will have to accept the Faithlife Connnect Starter option, and coupon bonus.

He already stated the Grandfathered price, when and if the increases are justified, will be brought in gradually.  So the price is not guaranteed to remain the same, however, the price for the non-grandfathered may also increase, keeping us at a somewhat lower price.  I do not care if it eventually vanishes,  my complaint was paying twice for books I already owned.

I received my initial information about the Faithlife Connect on Friday Feb 23.  I sent three questions to Customer Sevice before an answer.   Now I see why, they were flooded.  I took the trouble to check the resources listed for the Faithlife Essentials and or Starter and discoverd I had a significant number of the books in the rented library, and there seemed no discount for the books I owned.  This seems to fly in the face of the policy that we do not pay twice for what we already own.  This is one response allowing one to get the feature set upgrades we have with LOGOS NOW and the free books and preview books, with some extra in that area.  I will be happy with that.  One could consider however whether in the future one could have an option to look at, as you do with base packages, a subscription option that is discounted based on the products one purchases or purchased.  I am wondering how many of the objections were primarily based on paying twice for so many resources that we had already paid for, buying the books you would now rent to us.

I am in full agreement with the many who are impressed with the willingness to admit an error and rethink your new strategy, I do note it seems the idea is to keep subscriptions as having no discount for any who have bought or invested in large libraries, myself well over one thousand monographs.  The greater ones investment in base packages and libraries the less likely one will be interested in the subscription packages that have many volumes already purchased.  Likewise why purchase anything when it will not reduce the subscription price, even when you purchase a product in the subscription?  I believe this issue s one you need to look at.

I have also suggested that, and this applies to both subscription as well as purchased packages, one feature teachers could use is to be able to "dumb down" the package so one can have the student version for the group one is teaching, and remove the extra resources one adds to be a better instructor.  This helps make sure, especially if working with people on limited resources, that one does not frustrate the students referring to resources they lack and may not be able to afford.  A second idea, for mobile ed would be listing the resources they refer to in the course as part of the information about the package, preferably with an idea of the need for the resource in the course, and perhaps a package option for each mobile ed course which includes the mobile ed course and resources strongly advised to get to obtain your best results.  Just a thought or two outside of this discussion.

I just emailed customer support  at cs@logos.com and got confirmation back in about an hour that my account would remain as per the original deal (coupon code, Faithlife Connect Essentials subscription etc). Thanks Faithlife and Bob!

Bumping this post. I will try writing this address after some time (i.e., closer to daytime in Bellingham) to find out about keeping the coupon deal.

I think thats because he didn’t mind paying the $240 that’s why he got to keep the coupon

I have just woken up to a reply from this address ... it works [:)] ... although I suspect they are a little inundated.

I have opted to keep the new connect offering ... or more specifically to keep the $200 code off L8. I had already bought the L7 full features with a view to dropping LN completely ... I could not see much value in it.

I like the mEd courses and currently see connect as a way of accessing them cheaply. With my current time commitments, it can take at least 6 months to traverse one completely ... and I 'own' more than enough to keep me busy for a while should one a year not be sufficient.

Under the new Essentials package, can you choose what mEd course you access? Under LN, the offering was very poor, to the point of my never bothering with that aspect.

Either way, with the starter at $108 pa, or a grandfathered LN at $99 pa; it seems that the extra $9 per year is worth paying for the $200 voucher. Unless I am missing something? ... such as the 1 year pre-pub promise ... which I have not seen mentioned.

If I'm understanding correctly, we'll get "Essentials (without a library)" NOT "Starter" for the grandfathered price of $99/yr. That means we get to choose a new course to access every 6 months.

Under the new Essentials package, can you choose what mEd course you access?

Yes, you can choose from any of the INDIVIDUAL courses. Bundles are not eligible.

Clicking on the 'choose your courses' button brought up 193 courses for me.

    Hope this helps clarify!

Thanks Reuben. That does help ... under the LN replacement we now get to choose a course rather than have a course selected for us. I was not sure who did the choosing!

I still cannot work out the advantage that retaining the re-badged LN option has over moving to the starter plus a $200 voucher. Maybe I have read too much stuff ...

Logos Connect Starter does not contain all the program feature that Logos Now did or that Connect Essentials (no books) does. İf these particular features are ones you do not need or want, then starter with the certificate may be the best choice for you.

This link will show you what features you won't get with Connect Starter that were included in Logos Now and are in Connect Essentials:

    Thank you.

That comparison helps a lot ... but it would be better if 'new to you' were enabled.

A lot of the difference seems to relate to the new data sets and language analysis ... which seem to be giving answers to questions that I am not asking! Still, I am sure if they are not already in L7 (which I own already) then they will be in L8 ... which I will get when it arrives ...

I still cannot work out the advantage that retaining the re-badged LN option has over moving to the starter plus a $200 voucher.

Re-badged LN = Connect Essentials (No Library), which has the following advantages over Connect Starter:

    • It provides access to the full feature set (instead of the starter feature set).
    • It provides access to early release features.
    • It provides access to LN's subscription-only features such as lemma-in-passage, and morph query builder.
    • It provides access to a free course every six months (instead of once per year).
    • It provides two free books a month (one Lexham/Kirkdale Press title, and one classic title).

If you don't care about the free books every month, one extra course per year, or all the extra features in LN that aren't in the starter feature set, then Connect Starter is not only cheaper than rebranded LN, but you also get $200.

If you do want any of the Connect Essentials benefits, the rebranded LN is priced $100 less per year for the same benefits (less the book rentals). It would be cheaper to go with the grandfathered LN price over the long run, rather than keeping the $200 voucher (and using it to help upgrade from Starter to Essentials).

Everything should be more clear once the Connect pricing chart is updated with the new Essentials (No Library) tier details.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

True, but check carefully as it also includes things such as the sermon editor and systematic theologies. You just want to make as informed a choice as possible. Fortunately, we all have plenty of time to decide.

Thank you, Bob!  From my perspective, this is a perfect alternative.  Your willingness to change based on customer response demonstrates your appreciation for your "old" customers.

Thank you, Bob for your sincere letter and apology. I am one of those who did not email you. I did wonder what I was going to do (similar to many others).

I am convinced prayers were answered about this "subscription" approach. It did not feel right when I received your "coupon" email. So very grateful you sent this second email.

Will keep praying for the ministry of Logos/Faithlife.

    Prayerfully Yours,

    Dr. Karl Csaszar

This was my fault, not the team's.

A good leader says it was my fault and takes responsibility. My faith is restored in Faithlife.

And thank you for listening to feedback. This is a great move for those of us who have already invested so heavily in a library!

According to the chart, Systematic Theologies is not included in Connect Starter. I assume this is the tool and not just a data set?

Sorry, apples & oranges. I meant it is the L7 Feature Set (full, at least).

    Dear Bob,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you and your entire team for the remarkable work you have put into Logos.  Your customer and technical service are truly the best I have dealt with, period.

I have had multiple strokes (eleven, but who's counting) and at times struggle with the understanding the understanding of the changes you have mentioned here and in previous posts.  I do not understand the difference between Logos Now and Faithlife Connect Essentials.  Is there some way I can see the two programs side by side?  I am hoping this indeed is possible, as it will give me a better understanding of the two programs.  To date, I have spent $13,420.65 at Logos.  I tell you this not it boast but to thank you for all the products that you developed and that I find useful in my studies.

Since the strokes, my ability to study has become limited; on a good day, I can work for about four hours before the stroke symptoms return and I crash physically.  As I am sure you can determine, wholesale changes in my day to day studies does not work for a time; after using the new programs, etc., I eventually come around.  I just have to have a good understanding of the program.

This brings me to my next point.  Is there a way to operate Logos or Faithlife programs by speaking.  My right side has been affected by the strokes and typing, writing (I am right handed), using the trackpad (I actually learned how to do that with my left hand), etc., while reminiscent of Tim Conway's comedy, can be both difficult and frustrating.

Bob, again I would like to thank you and everyone at Logos / Faithlife (I am still quite partial to the name Logos) for all they do to bring the Word of God to all.  I know you recognize that those of us that teach, preach, etc., are held to a higher standard.

Before I close I was wondering if you have the men's Logos fleece in large or extra large?  They are no longer on the site, but asking never hurt.

Be Blessed in the Lord and always stand strong for His Word.

    In Christ,

    Rick Shaffer
