Also if one updates and the update corrupts the Logos system how can someone find and reinstall the older update that ran OK?
If one updates Windows (and the Windows update corrupts Logos)? That's a job for a system backup: restore your entire system to how it was before the update. (IMO, if you're concerned about being able to recover from any kind of system or program corruption, then automatic daily backups is something you should set up for your computer.)
If you're talking about a Logos update, that kind of problem does sometimes occur when updating to Beta 1, which is why we strongly recommend that it only be installed on a dedicated testing computer. I don't remember a time when corruption was caused by upgrading to a new stable release. But if, hypothetically, 8.17 did crash a lot of customers' systems, we would try to release 8.17 SR-1 ASAP. Otherwise, the download link for 8.16 is still available and tech support or the forums could provide the link to people who really needed to downgrade to the earlier version.

Thanks! There are customers that need that bit of info. Logos will help you go back one step when the next step is just one step too far.
[[And when that happens remember to turn off automatic update. Hopefully tech support or the forums will remind you at that time.]]

I have an old Logos 4(Libronix) from years ago, and since I was gonna halfta join anyway, I wanted to combine all my resources in one big set. I have recently manually upgraded my 7Sp1 manually (even the Microsoft easyfix didn't work, sheesh!), and it still won't load.Neither will Logos 7.

Hi Bradley,
I am using win 7 SP1 (64-bit), I have just uninstalled logos 8 and I can't reinstall logos 8 again?
The prompted message is: "Setup was unable to download a required file".
I have also tried, 1) Last supported version for Windows 7 / 8.1 / 10 (32-bit); 2) Latest version of Logos / Verbum 8 in the archive page.
The message is the same error.
Could you give me an advice how I need to do for reinstalling logos 8?
Thanks a lot
Chris

Is TLS 1.2 enabled? ==> Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab, scroll to the bottom and ensure that Use TLS 1.2 is enabled (checked).
Try Logos8Setup if different from the link you used.
Upload your logs using the paperclip icon if it still fails.

If you purchased L8 then you should contact Logos because by law you have the license to the product to get it again. If it is the "free" L8, then good luck, because the "free" version has limited functionality.
I searched for a fully - functional 8 & got two choices: a "base" version for $250 & a silver base version for I think $489.
Yeah, the Wordsearch customers(such as myself) as far as I know have no fully functional 8 or 9, even though it was promised to them through the acquisition of Wordsearch. We were supposed to be grandfathered in, but it didn't happen.
If Logos wants to stop support for Win 7 - 8.1, that's their business. But in the end they're putting the screws to faithful customers who won't upgrade to Win 10 because of old computers (such as myself), or because they hate Win 10 because of the gloatware & invasive user agreement(such as myself).
PC Magazine called Win 10 the biggest malware ever made because MS has the right to look through your PC for "suspected" illegal software.
Has anyone with W10 noticed the multitudes of "updates" you're getting? Yeah, & they take longer too. Perhaps it takes a lot longer to search your system.
Sorry about the rant, but I think PC owners have a right to know what's going on in their own systems & realize they're losing their rights to privacy. If that's not bad enough, other companies jump on board with them & disallow the ability to use their software on our older systems.
BTW, Win 7 users still equal 35% of all Windows users. Not to mention tons of software companies still cater to it. That's a lot of customers to throw away.
Chris, you and I are stuck like Chuck. I'm gonna keep using Wordsearch11 because I see no reason to pay more money to use what I already have a license to use.

You got free access to a version of Logos 8 with all of the equivalent features that exist in Logos to what you had in Wordsearch, plus some Logos features that didn't exist in Wordsearch. See https://www.logos.com/wordsearch-faq

Stephen, you sound like a disgruntled user. Can you share what you saw that led you to believe you were getting more than you got? Faithlife is very good at going the extra mile for the customer and would want to clear up or make good any legitimate misunderstanding.

Hi Stephen,
My one is an academic version of logos, not free version. I have contacted logos already, but still not replied from them.
I am still seeking a solution for my case.

I didn't hide the idea that I'm disgruntled, I made it plain to see, and I wanted the right folks to know that I am.
From searching the Logos blogs, I discovered that older versions of Logos were offline downloads. Now they are live downloads. I have a dual-boot Win 7 system, one 32 bit Pro & the other 64 bit Ultimate. NEITHER with the necessary updates could download the live download. I called customer service, and was told I had to upgrade to Win10..... for a download that used to work on every version of Win7. The Logos7 wouldn't load for the same reason. The funny thing is, I've downloaded Google Chrome several times over the past 2 years even though it is ALSO a live download.
From https://blog.logos.com/2019/02/how-is-the-free-version-of-logos-different-from-the-paid/ , there's this statement about Logos 8 free version:
Logos 8 Basic (the free version of Logos) is now available for free download.
A feature-light version of Logos 8, Basic is ideal for anyone just beginning their Logos journey.
If you want to jump to the next step up, consider Logos 8 Fundamentals.
Here’s a bit about how the two compare.
The last time I looked, "feature light" means certain features have been either removed or purposely limited.
So, I honestly showed someone I am disgruntled with a live update that won't work, & even if I was able to do so, the browser would be "feature light".
I currently have an older version (V3 I think) with thousands of resourses, plus Wordsearch 11 with 1005 books on it, and I can't get a single download to combine the two.
I think "disgruntled" pretty much covers it.
However, I did do some more searching & found Logos Fundamentals (same web page) for $99.99, then I found it dated a year later to $29.99.
Even that discount won't do you any good if you can't download it.
As it stands, in order to get the download, I'll have to buy Win 10 64 bit to dual-boot with Win 7, and use my firewall to keep Microsoft out of my system, that is, if I can really do that, which I believe isn't possible if there's back doors in it.
Please understand, I'm not angry at you for calling me out on my disgruntledness, I know it's not your fault. But it is somebody's............

Thank you for explaining. I now understand what you mean which is not how didn't read your original post.

The wiki https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Downloads_Archive#Last_supported_version_for_Windows_7_.2f_8.2e1_.2f_10_.2832-bit.29.3a suggests that Logos 8.11 might work.
Have you tried downloading that?
Sorry if I haven't fully understood your issue and if you have already tried this.

This is correct: Logos 8/9 does require a supported version of Windows, which does not include Windows 7.
Stephen Mitchell said:even if I was able to do so, the browser would be "feature light".
This is incorrect: Wordsearch users were not given Logos 8 Basic, but a custom version of Logos 8 that matches the features that were in the latest Wordsearch version they owned: https://files.logoscdn.com/v1/files/45561287/content.pdf?signature=B7M_mhfLktiAHHtsu8A5fek3BDg
You may continue using Wordsearch on Windows 7; there is no obligation to transition to Logos. If you do upgrade to a supported version of Windows, your Logos Library will be ready for you. In the meantime, you can access it through our web app: https://app.logos.com/

Hi Bradley, Graham,
I am using logos 8 with 64-bit Windows 7. However, I uninstalled it before and cannot reinstall logos 8 again.
I have tried both 8.11 and 8.12 and got the same error message "Setup was unable to download a required file"
Do you have any recommendation for resolving the issue?
Thanks a lot0 -

An idea is trying Windows 7 product key with Windows 10 installer (seems Microsoft has quietly continued free Windows 10 upgrade). Thankful for Windows 10 having Privacy settings (albeit not know about trustworthiness).
Stephen Mitchell said:... for a download that used to work on every version of Win7. The Logos7 wouldn't load for the same reason.
Concur with used to work. Since Microsoft discontinued Windows 7 Support, found a number of Windows 7 downloads are no longer available (unable to help a friend with older Windows so friend ended up purchasing newer computers: Chromebook & Windows 10 desktop).
Thankful for Faithlife announcement on 22 Oct 2018 about TLS 1.2 server change => Logos Security Update to Impact Logos 6, Logos 5, and Logos 4 Users and 26 Oct 2018 Blog article => https://blog.logos.com/2018/10/using-logos-7-please-make-important-security-update-now/

If your Libronix v3 licenses were not uploaded to Libronix servers years ago, your product codes can be registered/merged with your Faithlife account using => https://www.logos.com/redeem
Years ago uploaded my Libronix (v3.0g) licenses to Libronix servers, which were automatically merged with my Logos resource licensing so could download resources into Logos 4 & 5 (included free Logos update of many resources). Windows security updates on Libronix servers effectively prevented older unsupported Libronix v3 client software from connecting in 2016 so Libronix servers were shut down in Oct 2017 => ANNOUNCE: Discontinuation of Libronix Services (7.6 years after final 3.0g release on 17 Feb 2010 => https://blog.logos.com/2010/02/libronix_30g_fixes_windows_7_compatibility_issue/)
Stephen Mitchell said:The last time I looked, "feature light" means certain features have been either removed or purposely limited.
Thankful for free Logos 8 Basic & Verbum 8 Basic & Academic Basic enabled features lacking limitations (unlike some "light" versions). Thankful for my favorite feature of visual filter highlighting being usable in free Basic (so can "see" range of Greek verbal expression in Greek and English)
Logos Wiki Extended Tips for Highlighting and Visual Filters includes:
- Examples of visual filters (includes Faithlife group information for freely copying visual filters in screen shot)
Stephen Mitchell said:If you want to jump to the next step up, consider Logos 8 Fundamentals.
Thankful for Logos 8 Fundamentals being a worthwhile step up, which enables <Person ...> searching (plus more):
Thankful for my demonstration account having an order total of $ 0.00 that includes Logos 7 Fundamentals (free gift from Logos 8 upgrade) and Logos 8 Fundamentals (Faithlife coupon "paid" for upgrade). Personally use my demonstration account for Bible reading and a number of searches. When want to do syntax search, do use my purchased library that has appropriate resources plus Syntax Search enabled.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Do you have any recommendation for resolving the issue?I don't know why LogosSetup fails on Windows 7. It could be because it's missing TLS 1.2 support. If so, this KB article might help: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3140245/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-wi
If that doesn't help, you could try downloading the MSI file directly.
Let me first be clear: Windows 7 is unsupported by Microsoft. Windows 7 is unsupported by Faithlife. Logos 8.11 is unsupported by Faithlife. Logos 8.11 can't read the latest Logos resources.
Here are the direct download links. This is an obsolete version of the software. Downloading this file is not recommended.

Finally, I contacted technical support of logos.
Based on all your suggestions, I can shorten the time for resolving all the issues.
I appreciate all of your help. Thanks so much0
