I just received my Mac mini M1 with 16gb and 1 TB SDD. I also bought a 32" Dell computer. I went to this from a 2010 17" MacBook Pro (specs were horrible because I couldn't run Logos).
I don't like my monitor because the difference between the display resolution of the smallest to the next option up is too much of a difference. The smallest resolution is too small and the next size up is too big. I wish there was an in between. I can't fit anything more on my 32" monitor than I could with my 17" monitor.
I downloaded only some of resources to my Mac mini when I installed the desktop app for Logos. The home page is choppy. I can't scroll smoothly. The web based app is smooth but the desktop app is sluggish when I scroll. When I was scrolling through resources and picking ones I want to download it was very sluggish and caused me much frustration. Like, if I click on several books to download them when they are downloading and I continue to scroll sometimes it will kick me back up to the last one I downloaded. The Passage guide etc came up quickly but scrolling is sluggish, not smooth like butter.
I'm glad the Mac mini brings up my resources quickly when I do a search but other functions like scrolling and clicking through library tabs is frustrating. Like, when I click on "more" to show more topics and do that again and then click on a link it will take me to that. link but when I want to go back it collapses the tabs and then I have to go through the clicking "more" and "more" to get back to the next topic from where I left off. Plus it's sluggish when opening up "more" and "more" and sometimes will just collapse them.
It's frustrating to say the least. I wish I had never gotten into Mac and feel like I can't leave it. Logos was not meant to work on Mac0 -

Apple has a generous returns window (two weeks) for folk who are dissatisfied with their products.
Your description though has me wondering if you have allowed all the indexing etc to complete.

Strange. Your experience is nothing like mine on the Mac Mini M1 (same specs as you). It is quite fast for me, only slightly sluggish on the Home Page (Phil Gons, I think, explained why in another post - something that will eventually be addressed). Everything else is very smooth and indexing is VERY fast with the SSD. Have you updated to the latest version of Big Sur?

I have Big Sur 11.1. I just got my Mac mini two days ago.
I wrote my reply and then accidentally deleted it. it was long. I have to be brief.
The Home Screen seems to always be sluggish. Scrolling through the library of books was sluggish only when it was indexing. I compared scrolling through a book on the desktop app to the web app and it seems the same.
The problem with the library is logos problem not a Mac mini issue. When I click on Library > Series > and then "more" a couple times > then click on a series like Pillar which is far down this and then I go back to the list of series Logos collapses the list and I have to click "more" again and again to get back to Pillar and continue on. I would like to go back and find the list of series I had open still open so I don't have to click "more" many times.
What monitor do you use? I'm thinking of returning this one and getting one that works better with Mac display. (System Preference > Display > then I click on the tab just to the left of the one on the furthest to the right that has "more space" written just below it.) The text for that display option is too small for me but the next one up is too big. With the smallest display option I can have lots of windows open but the text is too small. So I have to go one up but I can't see more on my display than I could with my 17" MacBook Pro.

Mike, see my post above for a reply to your question about if I allowed it to index completely. The short answer is no. I scrolled though the list of books as the ones I click on to download where downloading and indexing.

I think you are wise to look again at the monitor that you are pairing the Mac with although I have friends who are more than satisfied with the Dell monitors that they have used.
The vast majority of folk I know, not all Logos users it has to be said, are delighted with their minis. I hope you become one of them when the teething problems are sorted.

This is a dumb question, John, but when you open the Library are you clicking on it one time, opening the smaller popup window, and then finding your resource, or dragging the Library down into a more permanent panel? If you open the Library with a single click, it goes away once you've made your choice. If you drag it into place (I often keep it as a panel in a custom layout), it SHOULD stay as you left it, searches included.

I understand your frustration and I'm not trying to be belligerent here, but saying Logos isn't a good fit for Mac is an odd statement that I'm not sure I know how to absorb. As it has been stated herein, for the vast majority of users, Logos runs just fine on Intel and M1 Macs. It's very difficult to diagnose an issue like you're having remotely. I came from a Late 2013 i7 MacBook Pro and the difference has been remarkable. Remarkably good.

Hey, Mike. I'm going to keep my Mac mini. You or someone else helped me realize that the complications were due to Logos indexing. It's not as big of an issue as I made it out to be.
I don't like the monitor because I really don't have more space since the display resolution options are very slim, just four. The lowest resolution is too small and the next one up is too big. I really like the that the text is sharp. I was one of the top picks for reading text. I can fit three parallel windows in Logos, but I was hoping for just a little more real-estate. I'll make it work. I'm not a pastor and don't spend a lot of time using Logos so I'm okay with what I have. If I was a pastor and using Logos much more then I'd probably get a second monitor.

Hey, Greg. I was just clicking the library icon next to the home icon. I tried what you suggested with dragging the library down into a panel. I got the same issue. I open the "series" filter. I click "more" 3x to get to, say, Pillar. I click on Pillar. Now I want to get back and start looking at the Series right where I left off. But when I click "x" next to "Series: Pillar NT commentary" and it sends me back to the filters the "Series" filter is open but it shows me only the first few selections, it's collapses the list of series and now I have to press "more" 3 more times to get back to Pillar.

Thanks Wilson. My comments were said in frustration and with limited understanding. The comments above gave me greater understanding of what was happening and now my opinion has changed. I hope I was able to to make that clear in my responses above. I'm satisfied with the M1 and glad I got it. Even with the sluggish Home Screen I'd still recommend it. It's very fast, but I came from a 2010 17" MacBook Pro and Logos got to the point where I literally couldn't run any of the guides.

OK, I understand what you're saying. I agree, it would be nice if the submenu stayed fully open until/unless the user closes it. I think that's worth creating a feedback entry for (at https://feedback.faithlife.com); you've got my vote if you want to set it up.

greg, I just learned about the feedback page yesterday. I’m also very new to this community even though I’ve been using Logos for over 15 years. When I heard about the feedback page I decided to mention this issues. I was just too busy yesterday. I plan to do soon.

Thanks, Mike. I pressed the option key before clicking "scaled" and it did give me more options. Unfortunately, it only adds more options beyond the 2560 x 1440 which is the second to the left in the picture I posted. I don't have the 3008 x 1692 as seen in your picture or what appears to be 3200 x 1800. I don't know why. It must be a Dell thing. Thanks for the help. I didn't know pressing "option" would open up more options.

Hello John I don't have the M1 yet, but i use an app called Display Menu that gives me many other display settings.

Logos doesn't have a Universal version yet, but runs fine under Rosetta 2. I got my new MacBook Pro M1 Max 16" today, and Logos is running. In the next week or two I'll repeat the tests I did on the M1 MacBook Air last year, but everything feels quicker on this machine.

Just stop considering it and just do it. The M1 is an amazing MacBook Pro or Air and it's really all that's needed to run Logos efficiently, even in Rosetta.
