Memorization tool improvement ideas

I recently stumbled on the Memorization tool. What a great idea!

Here are a few suggestions that could really make this feature shine:

  • Add a "Read it" option, like the Greek and Hebrew Alphabet Tutor tools. The more senses involved the easier it is to memorize something.
  • Make the editor jump the the first blank word, so you don't have to tab through words that are already revealed
  • Add a "Reveal Verse" button that would fill in all of the blanks in the verse
  • Add Next Verse and Previous Verse buttons, so a person could jump to different verses in the list.
  • Make the user interface consistent in all memorization tools, like the Greek and Hebrew Alphabet Tutors and
  • [totally awesome] Add a speech to text feature to fill in the blanks by repeating the whole verse from memory. I would love to be able to quote the verse from memory and see if I am right. Lacking this, the Reveal Verse button would show me the answer after I say the verse out loud.

I hope to see this feature improve with time to encourage and facilitate Bible memorization!

Great ideas. I like the tool a lot, but it is definitely part of the legacy code and needs some updates. It would also be ideal if it could be brought to mobile, or at least the web app.

I wish that the Passage List(s) for this memorization tool could be imported into the Logos iOS Flashcard app so we could be given a verse reference, try to think of the verse, then check to confirm we got it correct.

Good suggestion! It should work with the Android flashcard app too.

The Logos Flascard app - I was using it on Android - has been discontinued :(

Actually I think it had been discontinued directly after go-live (if memory doesn't fail me, it was cobbled together with no budget at all during a hack-a-thon), at least it didn't receive any updates or development for years - it just worked as it was. But they some time ago ficially discontinued it by pulling out the server link that synced Word Lists to the app, a very forwardlooking step: must save dozens of dollars over the next couple of hundred years.

It has been a long time since I played with the mobile memorization app.

The desktop memorization tool is clunky. It should automatically jump to the blank space so you can type in the missing words. Audio makes memorizing even easier than just reading and typing. Even cooler would be a voice to text feature.

Nevertheless, all of this is outside of the main mandate of the Logos program. So I would not be upset if they don't improve these features. IMO, there are a lot things that need more urgent attention.
