Austin,  Your email response sent me here so I will repeat my question. The response above for data and document transfer worked for my personal notes, lists, and highlights. My specific concern is 700 "Sermons and Illustrations" which I have accumulated in Wordsearch over many years and which still don't get picked up in the doc transfer script. Your note above has been the same for the 9 months of my querying since Logos conversion

"Sermons and Illustrations, and other Wordsearch document types  We are still deciding how to handle these document types. Your feedback on which document types are the most important for us to focus next is appreciated."

With end of WS support now upon me I am concerned that this initiative will get dropped.

I really don't want to lose 700 sermons.

Thanks for your response that included me. I am sorry to hear your plight. In my conversations with the Logos support team, they told me that the transfer was still in beta and therefore they could not help me. They advised that I could get help through the forum. But they also said that few people had raised problems in the forum as to problems with transfer of documents. I initially thought it must be a problem with my knowledge or my computer. But with the answer that I have now received: that Logos cannot transfer anything on the Wordsearch word processing, I would think there are numerous Wordsearch users who used the word processing who are materially impacted by their inability to transfer our work. The "solution" I have been told to date is that I should transfer all of my work to my word processing in my computer, which is "better". I have been trying to look into waht that entails and it appears to be an incredibly time consuming project because it will not tranfer cleanly so every document has to be cleaned up individually. It also apears that trying to copy and paste from Logos directly into my computer word processing will not be clean and will be materially more cumbersome. Please let me kow if you learn anything else.

Ron, please check for a "Wordsearch Edition" of your Logos Bible and see if the highlights are there.

I am not exactly sure what you are talking about but the highlights are in my Wordsearch program on the king James version Bible but it is not in the logos program. Yesterday I uploaded the Wordsearch 12 information as requested by the email I received from you

Sorry for the confusion. Your Logos software may have two copies of the King James Version. I just wanted to make sure that you are looking at "King James Version (WordSearch Edition)" and not just "King James Version".

I have done the back up, did the import, and got the message that it was finished. I opened my logos app and cannot find any of my messages from wordsearch in logos. Is there a special place that I need to be looking other then the under the docs tab?

Most of the Wordsearch data shows up in documents whose name starts with "WS". What is a specific example of what you are looking for?

I have looked in the documents and there is a WS Sample doc but none of my sermons from WS are in my docs.

I created a test document so I could have something easy to search for. Did the back up again and the import again and I am still getting nothing, even if I search logos for that particular doc.

Unfortunately neither "HTML Documents" nor "Sermons and Illustrations" are currently imported. See the original post and some of the replies above for additional details.

Stepping in....  I was a WS 12 user.... Had NKJV in WS...  but now when I click on Library and then type in "NKJV" I only get one.... am I supposed to have 2 (one for Logos and one for NKJV (WordSearch Edition) ????

No. We generally mapped a WS resource to a Logos resource, where one already existed. In a few cases, we created a new one, where one was different enough from the other.

This is a tragedy.  The Sermons and Illustrations database was top notch.  Easy to understand, easy to search by date, by a word, by a tag.  With only about 3 years and inconsistent use, I have 200 sermons and illustrations.  I can't imagine what it must be like for some others.

Fortunately, because of my insistence on using the Harvard outline, and the fact no one other than LibreOffice seems to handle it properly, most of my sermons are backed up individually by date.  I guess I'll continue to take the same precautions as I use Logos.  As we seem to get closer and closer to finding out which view of the tribulation is correct, I'd hate to lose everything at the flip of a virtual switch.

Ron, do you have any notes or highlights in the Notes feature? (Click "Tools" and then "Notes" in Logos Bible Software.)

    (1) For individual verses instead of paragraph form:

    * Click the Visual Filters icon on the Bible’s toolbar  (three dots next to the search icon at the top of the Bible translation)

    * Check and expand the Resource section

    * Check and expand the Bible text only section

    * Check the One verse per line box (per Morris Proctor instructions)

    (2) You can change the Bible text size via the slider on the resource panel menu (three vertical dots in the upper right of Bible translation). Move the slider to the right to increase the font size and to the left to decrease the font size.

I hope you kept the downloaded wordsearch exe install file because you probably will have to re-install WordSearch.

Is there anyway to import an .not file into Logos? Super old version of Quickverse with all my notes in it. I would love to import them into Logos.

  • Good day. Has a solution to this been identified as yet? When will this issue be resolved? I still use WS12 predominantly and just browse Logos occasionally as I am reluctant to move over to Logos fully until I can transfer all of WS12 notes.

What kind of notes do you have that you need migrated?

  • My document notes in WS12. These are all of my study notes, sermons, etc over the past 20+ years of using WS. Converting them one by one to a .doc file is not an option, just too many. Do you know of any other way around this?

Your answer is a little vague, since Wordsearch had data objects called Documents, but also had Notes (or Bible Notes), as well as a data type called Sermons which were used in the Sermons & Illustration tool.

Reading between the lines a bit, it sounds to me like you're talking about a lot of Documents. These would be html files that were created with the Wordsearch Word Processor tool. Those are easy enough to convert to .docx format (not .doc!!) using online converters. If you have hundreds and want to batch convert them, Mconverter.eu would be an option. They let you lease their software for a day for about $8, and you can do I think 1,000 documents a day in batches of up to 250 items. It's not the quickest, but it works. I'm sure there are other options - just google it.

Once you get them into Word format they'll be a lot easier to deal with. If you have the Sermon Manager tool, they're actually pretty easy to bulk upload into Logos as sermons at that point. It even handles the ugly www.crossbooks.com hyperlinks on the Biblical references and converts them to Logos Bible links/refs in the resulting sermon doc, so you can search your sermons for a specific verse, etc. By default, the tool uses the last modified date of the imported file as the sermon "date", but that's editable if you want to put the time in - and there are plenty of other fields you may want to populate with organizing metadata.

I'm not familiar with what Logos has in mind for user data type improvements/enhancements/additions in upcoming versions, but the Wordserach Migration effort sure seems like it's wrapped up. My advice to you and anyone else still using Wordsearch would be to figure out how to get Logos to work for you, and get off your Wordsearch dependency before it stops working on you. Good luck!

This is what I am trying to do now. I got a new laptop so I figured it is a good time to migrate over to Logos 100% but I just wanted to bring all my personal work over from WS12. Thanks for the assist.
