Allow multiple application instances

This comes from a thread on the forums:

From a windows perspective, it would be useful if you could open multiple instances of Logos.
This is probably not so easily done on the Apple Mac. Another possibility would be to follow the Accordance way of using zones and tabs that can in effect fill an entire page with resources.
Bottomline, the monolithic, single layout workspace is limiting particularly for multiple monitor scenarios and floating windows are not a very elegant solution to deal with creating layouts that can follow a extended workflow.

Because of the future of computers, this is needed! Please consider it!

Barney Fife is my hero! He only uses an abacus with 14 rows!

If in the current Logos window we could open multiple layouts, by placing each layout in a zone, then if we could tie them together, you could run your workflows through each of the zones depending on your preferred steps.
A rough example of layouts contained in each zone:
zone 1 - background and context layout
zone 2 - textual studies layout
zone 3 - supporting materials and theology layout
If these zones could then be 'floated', to allow those with multiscreen capabilities to spread out their work.
I am sure I am oversimplifying this. However, using another Bible programme I am inspired by some of their window management to see if there is more we can do on the Logos platform.0 -
Forum discussion "SUGGESTION: Allow Multiple Application Instances" => https://community.logos.com/forums/t/187160.aspx mentions floating window(s) currently do not have an option to show menu bar: Command, Home, Tools, Shortcuts, ... Adding show/hide menu bar option for floating window(s) would be appreciated.0

Technically they wouldn’t need to be separate instances, and it would actually be nice to be able to drag and drop tabs back and forth between windows. However, it would be nice to be able to have the toolbar in multiple windows if we wanted, and the highlight tool to open in the window that we were currently in.
Also, one thing that would make the current experience much more usable would be to improve the logic of where new tabs open. They should ONLY open in the window where the hyperlink was clicked. Otherwise, if you have multiple windows, the new tab sometimes open in a random window which has nothing to do with what you were currently working on.0 -
I want to open multiple instances of logos because I am studying different items with different layouts as I see fit and when I require it. a simple program like eSword would allow me to do that , but I am heavily invested in Logos. There is a need for it and Logos 10 is currently not fulfilling that need. Floating windows does nothing to resolve this requirement. Windows 11 allows using multiple desktops and even here Logos 10 denies opening a new version on a different desktop. Logos 10 mind you, the latest and greatest highly touted version limits using multiple instances in spite of users requesting this for years...0

This would be useful to my workflow, with a triple monitor setup.0

On Mac at least opening to instances on different users would be a great start. Hat to install logos and verbum to share a Mac with my wife0

"Layouts" in Logos function very similarly to "Workspaces" in Accordance. In Accordance, you can have as many Workspaces/Layouts open as you want. There is no need to have multiple instances of the app open. Maybe that's a Windows thing, but it's definitely not a Mac thing.
As Accordance users begin to switch to Logos (and they will soon), the ability to have multiple layouts open would make the transition less painful.0 -
This needs to be a top priority in any future updates considering the amount of new users who are currently migrating from Accordance to Logos.0

I agree. There are many instances where I would want multiple Logos versions open simultaneously--for example, one version would have the text and another version would have all my commentaries for the particular Bible book I am studying.0
