Exporting library to Excel

I have a filtered list of books in my library. I'd like to export the list to Excel, but neither of the options to export to Excel documents is not working.
What am I doing wrong? Are there steps I must take to make this work before clicking these? TIA
Lew

The Excel options have never worked for me. I normally save as an XML file, open that file in Excel, and then save it as an Excel file.

Thanks for the confirmation. That's the path I chose, but I hoped the software could do the work for me. 😏
I wonder if this has ever been reported as a bug.

This functionality works for me using Logos 39.1.6 on a Windows computer.
- Open Library
- Filter to Type:Journal
- Select Print/Export
- Select "Send to new document: Microsoft Excel"
- The information appears in a new spreadsheet that opens on my screen
If this is not working for you, please give detailed steps explaining how you tried to use this functionality.

I did the same on Verbum/Mac, Excel 365 ver. 16.94, Verbum/Mac 39.1.6. Worked fine!

@Lew Worthington and @Yasmin Stephen
Any chance that either app is running as administrator?

I don't think so (as in I have no idea 😅). I've gotten so used to the function not working that I've haven't tried it in a while. I'll check a little later tonight and post back.

No. I confirmed that.

Joe,
Following the steps you suggested (similar to what I had done before with a different filter), Excel opens temporarily (after Logos "thinks" for a few seconds), but Excel is blank; no spreadsheet is created. After a few seconds, Excel closes.
I'm on Logos 39.1.6. I'm on Windows 11 Home 24H2. MS Excel for MS 365 MSO (Version 2412 Build 16.0.18324.20092 64-bit).
If Excel is already open with a blank spreadsheet, choosing to paste into a an open document does nothing noticeable.

I finally remembered to test this, and I'm experiencing the same issue as Lew mentioned 👇🏽

(Logos is version 39.1.6 | Excel is version 2412)

Inspired by Yasmin's test, I ran an additional test on a different PC. I almost never use this PC with Logos, but the export worked. AFAIK, it's got the same versions of everything, but I can check that later.

I recommend that any Windows users experiencing this problem use these instructions to repair Excel.

Joe,
Thanks for the idea. It didn't help. I did a complete repair. Do you need error logs?

I'm using Office 365 and I did a quick repair on that, but no difference. I'm not interested in trying the online repair, which supposedly takes more time; I've been using the XML option in Logos as a workaround for years now and I'm okay with it.

It's not a huge deal for me, personally, but since it's a bug and since our experience is certainly not unique, I suppose the Logos programmers would like to fix it. 😊
There are several threads in which users have reported problems with this feature.

I did the online repair and nothing changed.

If you are still having this problem after repairing Excel, please post your logs here in this thread, or email them to cs@logos.com with a link to this thread.

It's possible that Excel Add-ins or other settings would be causing interference.

It's a good thought, but I don't have any. My Excel is pretty plain vanilla.

No add-ins here as well.

I am opening a ticket for this issue.
We have received logs by email from one user.
I would appreciate more, since we are not able to reproduce this in-house.

I have the same issue on a freshly installed Win 11 computer.
Logos version: 39.1 (pro subscription)
Excel version: 2501 (build 18429.20132), Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise, current channel 64 bit

Thanks for your logs @Jan Krohn I have added them to this case.

The exporting option does not work on the Logos Web App. I will have to try it on my desktop when I get home from work.

I'm using Desktop version 39.1.6 and was able to export my complete library to Excel successfully!

Same problem here.
Verbum App 39.1.6; Logos Pro subscriptionWindows 11; MS 365 Version 2501
"Send to Excel" opens Excel which closes immediately after clicking on it. "Paste into open document" shows no reaction at all.

@NichtnurBibelleser It would be helpful if you could post your logs here in this thread, or email them to cs@logos.com with a link to this thread.

Done.

Maybe it's a matter of localization? American and German Excel commands differ.

Thanks for your logs @NichtnurBibelleser I have added them to the ticket.

That would not be the case for me, though.
