reading plan stil not syncing
this is plain out SAD. the reading plans still do not sync correctly. The only plan that syncs is the one year reading plan which i don't want .
i created a new reading plan , but it just will not sync .will delete logos and take a few hundred dollar loss , rather then being frustrated with this program that just does not do what is advertised .....

Are you sure? I have three Reading Plans which all get updated daily and sync perfectly well between my Windows 7 PC, my iPhone and Biblia.com. One is for daily SBLGNT reading, another for various books that I read (currently Beasley-Murray's Baptism in the New Testament, having just finished a Reading Plan all the way through NT Wright's Resurrection of the Son of God. There is sometimes a bit of a delay, but syncing normally works fine for me (although I have just noticed that the reading I did about ten hours agon on my PC hasn't synced, but that's the first time I have ever noticed a problem).

Logos User Voice suggestion => Improve Logos 4 Mac Feature Parity with PC
Logos 4 Mac lacks many features already available in Logos 4 Windows. Wiki has list of Mac features needing improvement =>http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_and_PC_User_Interface_Differences#Feature_Parity
Note: Feature Parity list now includes: "PC Reading Plan updates sync with mobile devices, but not Mac" (with reference to this thread)

i want my money back.
i created a reading plan in logos for mac , its called "read esv in 106 days" . i open logos on my iphone or ipad touch and there is the "read read the bible in one year" reading plan which i can NOT delete .....
This now syncs to my desktop version . Well this is not want .I dont want the "read the bible in one year reading plan . Is this so hard to fix?
It was working at one point but is not working anymore. One of the big reason i bought this software is because i am on the road a lot and wanted to be able to read on my ipad and have it stay in sync as ADVERTISED by the company who developed this dreaded program .
Maybe i misread the advertising , but this it NOT working ...
i am tired of wasting my money and effort on a software that just does not do what it was advertised to do .

Suggest calling Logos to discuss refund => http://www.logos.com/about/contact
Observation: Logos software is free, but resource licenses are not.
Edit: upcoming Logos 4.5 Beta development cycle has a tantalizing screen shot => http://community.logos.com/forums/t/12999.aspx?PageIndex=2 (syncing notes between iOS and Logos 4 Mac). Also, Logos 4.5 Beta will include sync improvements => http://community.logos.com/forums/t/36948.aspx (anticipating Logos 4.5 Beta 1 release within a month, possible as soon as next week).

I am sorry you are having trouble with your reading plans. I can sense that you are frustrated, as well you should be. I am not sure why you are having difficulties, but I do know that it can take a while for the reading plan to show up on the iPad. I had difficulties with it at first, but now my reading plan is syncing great. Since you were having so much frustration, I decided to create some new reading plans to see how the sync would work. I can tell you that the new reading plans have not shown up on the iPad yet. I even deleted Logos from the iPad and re-downloaded it.
Logos is a great program. I think that if you give it time, you will really like it. One of the new features, "Personal Book Builder," (or PBB) has become one of my favorites. I am frustrated too with the iOS app. I would love to read my books on it more, but I can't because I MUST highlight when I read. I am thankful, however, that Logos is working to bring this feature, along with notes, to the iPad in the near future.
I think if you use a little more "honey" and a little less "vinegar" you would get a better response. If you are still unhappy, you should call about a refund. Logos does not want to have unhappy users. I have found, though, that they work very hard to bring us the best software possible.
If you want to try and troubleshoot this issue, perhaps some info would be good:
1) When did you create your reading plans?
2) Have you "used" the reading plans on your computer?
3) How many computers do you have Logos on? What kind are they?

love your honey and less vinegar response ....
I have been frustrated with this program from day 1 on a mac . It was never really ready, and the company has been ignoring that fact . Yes i am slightly mad and don't really know why i should sugarcoat it. I paid money for a product that does not perform or work as advertised . case closed :-)
i use a mac and i have had the program with all its frustrations for almost a year and it is just NOT getting any better really....
created the reading pan about a month ago, worked fine, then stopped syncing .
created a new reading plan yesterday that still has not shown up.
i have an imac at home running the mac version and a mac book pro , and both sync. its just the ipad and iphone that dont sync .
i am trying to remain positive and to be honest there are bigger things in life than a silly computer program . I realize that as well.
What is sad that the company has been ignoring all the issues on the mac version . It is not just the sync issue . If you look at the boards there are many frustrated users .
Plain and straight the program was never ready for release. sorry . i m being too honest ?
;-)

If you were mad, you should have spoken to Logos about it. Perhaps you could have gotten a refund. I understand your frustration, but have you given Logos an opportunity to fix things or respond?

Personally I am very pleased with the improvements made between 4.2 and 4.3. It is unfair to say that things are "just NOT getting any better..."

I don't know if you are right about this being a Mac issue. It may be. I am hoping that 4.5 will introduce some of the changes you are hoping for.

Thankful for Bob Pritchett's post (Logos CEO) on 12 May 2011 => What Logos development is doing that expresses Logos is actively improving software on many platforms, including Logos 4 Mac is behind and needs improvement.
As a follow-up to some threads about Logos 4 Mac priorities for next development cycle, created 5 Logos User Voice suggestions => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/36249/273661.aspx#273661 (grouped together on new page => http://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-4/topics/43299-i-suggest-you-/filter/recent )
After a month of Logos User voting, appears Logos 4 Mac Enhancements (including multi-finger gesturing) is bit more desired than Improve Logos 4 Mac Feature Parity with PC
Personally I am very pleased with the improvements made between 4.2 and 4.3. It is unfair to say that things are "just NOT getting any better..."
After Logos 4.3 shipped, removed 6 items from Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Feature Parity that were fixed in Logos 4.3 plus included some Notes enhancements (Notes still needs more feature parity improvements). Thankful for Logos 4.3 improvements; looking forward to Logos 4.5 improvements, including revamped sync between Logos 4 and mobile apps.

to answer your questions .
1. YES, no response
2. NO not getting better on the MAC side
are you on a mac?
if not you can not really respond to my problems since you don't have them.
Trust me my days are spend working , taking care of my family and the few quiet moments i have i wanted to dig deeper into the word so i can make sense of this fallen world we all live in .....
I have waited for over a year , and if i was the only one i would think it is my problem, but why don't you head over to the mac forum and have a quick read and then tell me that thing are getting better after you have finished reading all the complains about this software...
The funny thing is with every promised update , i am just another BETA tester .
Why do i have to invest in a software , them wait about a year or two before it works as advertised .
Next time the passengers board my airplane after spending a few hundred dollars , i will tell them, Hey i get you to your destination , but not now maybe in 2 years .... what do you think the outcome would be .?
If i wanted BETA software i would have signed up for it and not pay several hundred $$.....
i appreciate all your help but unless you have fought this software like i have , you can not really understand.
BTW has your reading plan synced yet ?
Its been a few hours for me and still nothing . I can sync my logbook software within 10 seconds from my phone to my ipad to my 2 computers....so i know it is possible .....
Overall i am very satisfied now since i deleted this software .I have taken my loss, opened up my bible and found true peace . No slow scrolling , no crashing and oh my , no syncing ............
Thanks for the offer to help, even so you almost made me feel guilty for telling people the truth , just almost ,since i gave it one more try before i finally deleted it off my mac, ipad and iphone .
to all you mac users out there enjoy your time with it ....as it is a test in patience which i admit i have failed ....
now back to reading the word WITHOUT issues... Logos , thank you for making me realize to NEVER buy another product ......

are you on a mac?
Yes. KS4J and I both use Mac.
NO not getting better on the MAC side
Did you ever update to 4.3 SR-2? It was considerably better than 4.2 in many of the areas I was concerned about.
Thanks for the offer to help
My pleasure. I am sorry I could not help you to get satisfaction. If you click "Email me when someone responds," I will let you know if I find out anything more, especially when 4.5 is released. As KS4J mentioned, they are currently working on syncing features. Perhaps these issues will be resolved with that release.
Next time the passengers board my airplane

Logos 4 Mac forum has You've come a long way Logos for Mac!
Apologies: have not read all Logos 4 Mac Alpha pre-release threads (have read every Mac thread since Logos 4 Mac Beta 1 pre-release in July 2010). Am aware Logos hoped to complete Logos 4 feature parity on Mac and PC months ago; yet more improvement still needed. Also aware Logos 4 Mac users desire multi-touch gesturing more than feature parity => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/36824/280915.aspx#280915
Looking back at thread => Even slower scrolling now ... more apologies since did not ask you how many resources were linked together for simultaneous scrolling (especially tabs not visible for reading).
Its been a few hours for me and still nothing . I can sync my logbook software within 10 seconds from my phone to my ipad to my 2 computers....so i know it is possible .....
Concur current Logos sync responsiveness needs improvement. Also noticing Logos web site response time varies. Logos is actively developing Notes and Highlighting sync between Logos 4 and mobile devices; with more information to sync, an improved sync framework is needed. Ideally Logos should consistently sync automatically within 5 minutes (since Logos 4 sync nominally happens every 5 minutes). Of course, Logos should only sync your changes to your devices.

Welcome to the forums. Sorry you are having troubles. Logos is aware of the situation and is currently working on it. Unfortunately, we do not have any time table on when it might be fixed. On the positive side, they are working on syncing highlighting and notes!

I use a Macbook Pro at home, iMac at work, and iPad and iPhone here and there. Also have Logos installed on our home PC. I use my iPad for the reading plan from time to time and it has generally worked, but pulling it up now on my iPad I see that the reading plan it shows me is not up to date.
I know Logos has and is making some changes with syncing and one reason for the changes is to ultimately improve the mobile app. Wonder if something they are working on has caused a temporary incompatibility.
I've had no trouble getting my reading plans to sync across computers - Mac or PC.

In reading through this post (and I am NOT using Logos for Mac) I wondered why it is the users who are defending the company and not the company itself? Is there a standard response required from Beta testers for Mac? I have often read the standard "Logos is aware of the situation...we do not know when this will be fixed" How about an answer form the programmers or even the head of that department.
I feel this would go a long way toward easing the grief that some are experiencing. You wouldn't say some of these things to a family grieving surely! Grief is in many forms. I cannot know how you feel Fritz but I sure can be there with you in that pain. Please Logos, give us some clear answers and if there aren't any then please acknowledge this. A simple and direct honest answer ("I do not know the answer to that") will go a long way to keeping your customers satisfied.
Perhaps some pastoral care is currently required to mend a broken relationship.
How to ask for help for Logos issues.

We have been getting reports of issues with syncing Reading Plans between iDevices and our Logos 4 Mac desktop application.
We are looking into the issue and we should be pushing out a fix in a future release.
Thanks,

While I am not the head of our Development, I do believe I can answer your questions. We are currently in the midst of a general overhaul of our Sync Framework that should solve the issues we have been experiencing with reading plans and other data.
In addition to solving some bugs like this one, the overhaul will allow for a slew of new features and accessibility on our Mobile apps.
This will be a major change to the software though it will be largely invisible to the user. As such, I really cannot say when that change will be rolled out: any number of issues could delay release significantly.
Thanks,

Bama, was this an update? While I sincerely appreciate a personal touch from Logos on the forums (and I'd love to see even more Logos interaction with users via the forum community), it would be ever so much better if Logos ALSO posted a "Status Report" periodically in the General Forum (sure, give us projected delivery dates like "3rd quarter this year", we know they'll slip... that's fine! Just keep us updated on the slippage.) Please see the Suggestion HERE for regular updates similar to Bob's update just under four months ago.
- Confirmation the app is under dev for bug fixes and feature upgrades. "We are currently in the midst of a general overhaul of our Sync Framework that should solve the issues we have been experiencing with reading plans and other data."
- Greater accessibility, and another new feature plug, "In addition to solving some bugs like this one, the overhaul will allow for a slew of new features and accessibility on our Mobile apps."
- The upgrade will be (mostly) transparent to the end-user, and he can't speculate on a delivery date. Or progress so far. Or planned delivery date. "This will be a major change to the software though it will be largely invisible to the user. As such, I really cannot say when that change will be rolled out: any number of issues could delay release significantly."
Welcome to the exciting and speculative world of software development! [<:o)][^]

Thanks also Hunter. However, I received the following in an email from the Logos tech support yesterday:

know this is a bit frustrating, but it can take several weeks for new
Logos 4 data, such as a Bible reading plan, to synch to your iPhone.
Thanks for your patience as you wait for the new plan to show up in the
Logos 4 app."Is this for real? Anyone else heard this?

Yes, this can be the case. That is something of an outlier in terms of syncing time, but not unheard of.
This is why we are overhauling the Sync Framework that we are using. The new version should handle continuous syncing at a much faster pace.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Hunter,
I see the iPhone app was updated today. Still no fix for the reading plan feature? Why not forget trying to sync the reading plans and let iPhone or iPad users create their own reading plans on the device? You can add the sync feature when all the bugs are worked out.

Hi LOGOS!Is there a command that we can plug into the iPhone LOGOS app that will enable us to force the iPhone app to sync with the LOGOS server? For some reason - when the LOGOS iPhone app apears to be syncing with the LOGOS server it does not update the reading plan to the most-up-to-date schedule. If there isn't a command, LOGOS should program a command in the next iPhone app release so we can plug in the command and force the iPhone app to sync with the LOGOS server. If we can enter a command to force a sync between the iPhone app and the LOGOS server it might solve the reading plan dilemma we all have.
Blessings,
Moises Rivera

This is not the issue. If you want, you can uninstall the app, reinstall it and it STILL won't be up to date. It is an issue with the sync infrastructure and will not be fixed until sync v2 is released with Logos 4.5.
0 -
The issue is that the app is "not" really syncing with the LOGOS server. If it was syncing it would sync correctly. The sync infrastructure is fine. Both of my laptops sync to the LOGOS server and both get updated with any changes I make to the reading plan. The issue is with the syncing mechanism on the iPhone app. It appears to be syncing in real-time because you'll see the syncing icon spin. Obviously, the iPhone app is not syncing with the LOGOS server because if it was syncing correctly my (our) iPhone app would immediatley pull the most up-to-date reading plan.
Again, if you have LOGOS on two computers and make any changes to the reading plan you will see that the LOGOS server will immediate update the reading plan in each computer in real-time. The LOGOS sync infrastructure is not the issue; the sync mechanism on the LOGOS iPhone app is the issue because it's not "really" syncing with the LOGOS server when it appears like it is syncing by displaying the spinning icon you see every time you open the iPhone app. This is why there should be a way to force a sync in the next release of the iPhone app.
