A lot, but buying good books (if they are used) is one of the greatest investments one can make...buying them in Logos makes the investment all that much more worthwhile.

Currently at $4938.43 and I have the Plat package with a lot more addon resources I have acquired. My CP and Prepub total around 11k and I am not sure I will get all those resources.. some I do.. others I delete.
I am a student attending a very demanding program and I have to say Logos Bible Software has helped me tremendously with academic papers. I cannot recall any paper I have written for school that did not have Logos resources cited in it. In a hermeneutics class I needed a certain amount of commentaries in the last 50 years. While the students ran wild in the library I just opened up my Logos and found the commentaries I needed. I will continue to support Logos in all my endeavors and I hope to do business with them for many years to come.

I have over $14,000 listed on the orders page with items which aren't there since they were purchased prior to the time when they began their list. Add to that the fact that there are a number of resources I have passed up -- some because I don't want them but others because I couldn't afford them at the time they were offered on prepub -- and I have a considerable quantity of items that I have or would have purchased. Some have much more since I'm fussy about what I buy (generally, but not always). You might as "Sweet Rosie O'Grady" [;)] since I think she gets almost everything.

I must say that Logos is divinely sent by the Lord to those who know a good tool in the study of Scriptures. To me, it is so valuable, it has no value in dollars. This said, I've invested in this tool in ten years close to $7,000, not including the bids I have pending which add up close to $700.00! In addition I also have about another $1,300 in "gathering interest" and "under contract" resources. Bless the Name of Jesus.

I started with a MacArthur Library disc bought from Grace To You. It was $50. Never planned to go any further. Last fall I decided to try L4Mac while it was still Beta. Never really even knew what I had on the MacArthur disc until then. And L4M was so cool. That did it. Went for Scholar on the payment plan after an agonizing month of trying to raise enough money. I mentioned it to a friend. He sent me a check for the full amount! I've been selling off my print volumes to help finance my books in Logos. I'm paying off an upgrade to Platinum and WBC. I guess all this is past $2000, but a mere pittance as to it's real value. God's Word is priceless especially when you gain understanding of it.

There is no answer. It depends upon
- what you are using Logos for
- the resources Logos offers that are related to your use
- what you have available in paper format that you can delay upgrading
- what other expenses have priority on your assets
Put another way
- your investment in Logos should not take precedent over good and generous stewardship of your funds
- with the exception of (a) resources that came in your base package or (b) resources that you purchased to make the resource available to other Logos users, your collection shouldn't contain unused resources ... poor priorities. In His "fed me, visited me, gave me water" statement, Jesus didn't mention Logos resources ...
- your collection shouldn't grow for bragging rights reasons

I bought my original Logos software package at the bookstore in John Piper's church many years ago. It was the Gold package, there was no Platinum or Portfolio at the time.
I now have Portfolio and accumulated 5,700 resources in my Logos Library and I have over $25K invested. They add up fast...

Going back to my upgrade to Logos from the old CDWORD program decades ago, it must be about $10,000. Maybe more. About 60% of which was bought directly from Logos and the rest from publishers or bookstores which carry Logos products.
These are the tools of my trade, and I do not regret a single dollar spent on Logos resources.
Thanks Logos! I never dreamed that I could have such a valuable library. I am in your debt, literally and figuratively.

I'm trying to pay as little... but investing more in Logos has really expanded my horizons. Even though I don't read the theological viewpoints of many denominations, I read much more now, both printed matter (somehow Logos has made me read my paper books over and over again in places where it's a bit difficult to open my laptop), than I did way back when I only had a small Logos collection:

It cost God his Son, who is of course resurrected and ascended, so I do not really care how much it costs to better understand the Gospel. I have tens of 1000s invested in books and software. As long as I continue to be transformed into the image of the Son (Spirit/Word) - which includes financial responsibility - and as long as these resources are re-invested in the lives of others it is $$$ well spent.

You misread me. I was saying that the superfluous, unused resources should only be the result of the base package purchases.

Funny this. I was looking over my account just the other day. I started with Libronix Gold and I now own the Diamond package.
I was really surprised just how much I've spent over the years. But the things I have learned! One cannot count the cost when getting closer to God. We can never equal his cost.

When I first posted to this thread, about two years ago, I was just shy of $11K...now, following the roll out of L5 and the end-of-year sale, I am at just over $17K.
Of course, I still have some payments to make. [:P] I suppose you could call that "commitment", seeing as my income over the last two years has only been about twice what I spent on Logos resources during that time.
