I am curious to know How much dollars some one could have invested to logos Bible software.

I am just wondering with this precious Bible software ,how much money one has invested, because it speaks how much the software is valued to him or to her. I have invested almost 4000.00 USD, If I had more money I would not hesitate to spend even if it is thousands of dollars. The love of God'Word values the software.

Blessings in Christ.

Tes, you may not get an enthusiastic response as this could be a private/sensitive matter for some (like me!).

A more informative question might be, "How much have I spent that I'm not using?"

The upgrade to Platinum was worthwhile as I'm using more than enough to address that. But I suspect I've wasted > $100 on stuff I'm not using: Community Pricing stuff that seemed cheap, specials (including Christmas collection) where I had not really checked out the authors and so on.

I don't feel guilty for what I've spent on Logos resources that I use, but I really do try to critique myself on purchases that I don't end up using adequtely.

I know what you mean. I have found some titles may just sit there on the proverbial digital shelf for a long time and when I least expect it, I have a sudden need or interest in that specific vein. Many folk travel light (like the Rechabites in Jeremiah 35:6-10 ) and some people like myself leave a wide footprint on the land wherein they dwell.(as in Jeremiah 29:5-7 ) As long as I get a better deal buying on sale and in bulk (Portfolio Edition or Christmas 2010 Master Collection) I don't mind the extra weight in my pocket size hard disk drive. No problem for me, I've invested about $2500.00 over the years.

    Too much! [:D]

Started with Scholar's Silver ($800?), then upgraded at discount to Logos 3 Gold (OC) ($400?), then upgraded at discount to Logos 4 Platinum ($464), plus (per my account and order history): $2,155 in orders, $95 pending in Community Pricing, and $1,435* pending in Pre-Pubs; plus one Camp Logos, several Morris Proctor manuals, plus some other training CDs = a grand total of what will be close to $6,000, it seems.

Plus the cost of a laptop sometime next year so I can use all the above during my work commute so it will be more part of my life and not just a hobby.

    * $700 (i.e., nearly 1/2) of the Pre-Pub is for the upcoming Logos commentary series, which I may reconsider after seeing a promised preview.

On the face of it, Logos has been an expen$ive hobby for me, but since it's pretty much my only hobby, it's not too bad when you figure the monthly cost over all the years.

I hope Logos again has a $1 each sale on its:

    • Logos Insulated Travel Mug
    • Logos Clear Glass Mug
    • Logos T-shirt: Binary Logo
    • Logos Stainless Steel Mug
    • Logos Water Bottle—Blue Polycarbonate/Stainless Steel

I'd definitely order some coffee mugs, as the Logos Clear Glass Mug is my favorite of all our coffee cups, and is the best clear glass mug I've found anywhere. (Though I'd like some plain ones without the Logos Logo.)

how much money one has invested, because it speaks how much the software is valued to him or to her

    It speaks of two things:

    • How much the software is valued
    • How much money is available to spend

One person's $100 on Logos may be more 'costly' than another person's $10,000.

This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

One person's $100 on Logos may be more 'costly' than another person's $10,000.

That is exactly so. I am not sure Tes, if your question can get right answer for you, if you would like to see how valuable software is for anyone of us. Dollars are not exactly the only criteria. The way we use the software, the amount of books we read, not only have in our library etc. etc.

Been using Logos since mid 90's....stopped counting after $15K a few years back (probably over 20K now - guessing). Overall, don't regret any of it. As you say, "The love of God's Word values to software."

    Optimistically Egalitarian (Galatians 3:28)

I've been with Logos 3 and 4 since 2008 (previously only had Discipleship Journal in Logos 2.1, and some E4 discs).

And I've been constantly asking Logos to show the totals in the My Account section of the website.

Now the totals are there, and I think I've spent quite a lot -- couldn't imagine Prepubs and Community Pricing can take that much when I first saw the amount :-)

But I have no regrets on this.

Still exploring the vast amount of resources and still purchasing, it seems.

I am not taking as a proportional the amount of money spent to the love of God nor do I mean the less money one has invested has less value to the Software, what I mean is simply, how much one could have invested based to software out of his needs for it .

According to the Logos tally that is on my Orders page (and this number actually catches me by surprise) I've ponied up nearly $11K (I'm within spitting distance of that amount) since they began to track my current account. I probably would have guessed $7-8K, but obviously smallish purchases add up over time. I have about $10.5K in PrePubs in the pipe (but much of that is probably in a perpetual "Gathering Interest" state). I have over $1K in CP items in the pipe. Also, I probably spent at least $1K with Logos under my old account, which is when I got the original Scholar's bundle [with the cool tie--the best chachki (tchotchke) Logos has offered so far, IMO)].

A year or so before Gold first came out, I think, I added up the items I wanted at that time and it came to over $18K, and I had only spent $3-4K at that time, I would guess. Some of those items I ended up picking up when I bought Portfolio, but I'm sure there's plenty of other things from years-gone-by that I would like to add. I am beginning to become more selective. I have a few things I consider must-haves, like the Talmud, but I am reaching the point where I am not going to buy large amounts of other resources unless I get them at ultra-good discounts. As I said/griped in another thread, the currently offered Master Collection is what I have in mind (the value is exactly what drives my interest and desire to purchase). But as I also said, I won't ever bother considering that collection because it's loaded with hundreds of resources I already own. I want to pick up big value collections WHICH I HAVEN'T ALREADY PARTIALLY BOUGHT ONCE OR TWICE. Since Bob has already admitted that a tiny portion of Logos users account for a large portion of its sales (and I assume I am in that number) I hope that they will put forth the effort to create the kind of collections I'm looking for--the primary consideration being stuff that isn't already in the Portfolio.

My suggestion, on a number of occasions, has been a "make your own" collection with a corresponding percentage-off increase as the $ amount increases. I have already shown my willingness to drop big bucks if I can get BIG value. But getting scads of worthless items along with already purchased items greatly diminishes the perceived value of the current seasonal collections on offer...at least for me.

I will also say here that the 50% off piecemeal offer that is currently on the table just doesn't jog my interest. I am a bulk value purchaser, in general, and so I want to get that kind of value in the majority of my future Logos purchases.

It is hard to imagine the value of my library, but one way to calculate it was surprising to me. I took my total invested and divided by the number of sermons I have preached since the time I started with logos and then divided by the average number of listeners. Although my investment is fairly large it amounts to just pennies per Sunday per listener. I think that's a pretty fair deal. They get fresh material and I am blessed to stay current with newly published resources.

I have spent a fair bit in Logos, and more for books I have in print. I like the Logos platform and the ease of use for, particularly, commentaries and reference works, but I regard my 'investment' as my whole library which has helped shape my theology and exegetical practices. Logos is a great tool which is part of my overall investment.

I also have books in print and in Logos, which I regret buying. So while purchases might show something about where my values are, they might also show where I am simply being rash in my purchases.

    Great answer!

I think it means thousands (of dollars), but it could also mean the weight growth caused by using Logos all the time :-)

Yes Timothy is right.  K=Thousand as in "Kilo" (Kilometer etc.)  It's just a bit of shorthand.

More then a new car cost back in 1972!

Currently at $4938.43 and I have the Plat package with a lot more addon resources I have acquired. My CP and Prepub total around 11k and I am not sure I will get all those resources.. some I do.. others I delete.

I am a student attending a very demanding program and I have to say Logos Bible Software has helped me tremendously with academic papers. I cannot recall any paper I have written for school that did not have Logos resources cited in it. In a hermeneutics class I needed a certain amount of commentaries in the last 50 years. While the students ran wild in the library I just opened up my Logos and found the commentaries I needed. I will continue to support Logos in all my endeavors and I hope to do business with them for many years to come.

I have over $14,000 listed on the orders page with items which aren't there since they were purchased prior to the time when they began their list.  Add to that the fact that there are a number of resources I have passed up -- some because I don't want them but others because I couldn't afford them at the time they were offered on prepub -- and I have a considerable quantity of items that I have or would have purchased.  Some have much more since I'm fussy about what I buy (generally, but not always).  You might as "Sweet Rosie O'Grady" [;)] since I think she gets almost everything.

    Hi Tes,

Greetings in Jesus' Name. Wonderful Name.

I must say that Logos is divinely sent by the Lord to those who know a good tool in the study of Scriptures. To me, it is so valuable, it has no  value in dollars. This said, I've invested in this tool in ten years close to $7,000, not including the bids I have pending which add up close to $700.00! In addition I also have about another $1,300 in "gathering interest" and "under contract" resources. Bless the Name of Jesus.

To God be the glory!! I started with Logos 2 (I believe it was called this, it was before Libronix). It has been the Lord who has blessed me with such a tool which I consider it an investment.

I once visited Logos and saw how they prepare this resource. One word for the glory of God: AWESOME.

    Blessings to all. . .

Absolutly ,brother you are right that is why my wants are so great above  my capacity.

    Blessings in Christ.

I started with a MacArthur Library disc bought from Grace To You. It was $50.  Never planned to go any further. Last fall I decided to try L4Mac while it was still Beta. Never really even knew what I had on the MacArthur disc until then. And L4M was so cool. That did it. Went for Scholar on the payment plan after an agonizing month of trying to raise enough money. I mentioned it to a friend. He sent me a check for the full amount! I've been selling off  my print volumes to help finance my books in Logos. I'm paying off an upgrade to Platinum and WBC. I guess all this is past $2000, but a mere pittance as to it's real value. God's Word is priceless especially when you gain understanding of it.

The mind of man is the mill of God, not to grind chaff, but wheat. Thomas Manton | Study hard, for the well is deep, and our brains are shallow. Richard Baxter

I have spent around $3,000 US so far and continue to buy titles as they become available. I also have some like William Barclay that are no longer available to the Bible software publishers.

Going back to my upgrade to Logos from the old CDWORD program decades ago, it must be about $10,000.  Maybe more.  About 60% of which was bought directly from Logos and the rest from publishers or bookstores which carry Logos products.

These are the tools of my trade, and I do not regret a single dollar spent on Logos resources.

Thanks Logos!  I never dreamed that I could have such a valuable library.  I am in your debt, literally and figuratively.

Already annoyed my wife, but she still lets me upgrade ... She looked at my accounts page, and seen how much I spent so far, then gave me the "you know what we could have bought" lecture :). She's on the same page with me though, studying the word of God is important.. The two resources I am still wishing to get the big nelsons unlock, and anchor yale bible. Been looking at them for years, and have chosen to upgrade base packages instead.
