I'm having the same problem... I keep getting connection errors. No content whatsoever. I tried to reinstall the application but that didn't work either. I'm sure its a minor issue. But this is a great example of why offline content was such a good idea. Now if we can just get to the content in the first place so I can store it on my phone.

be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer."

After upgrading to 1.2 I have no books. I signed out, signed back in, no books. I uninstalled, reinstalled, no books. Any help?
To get your books, you have to be connected to the internet via wifi or your carrier. You then need to download the titles you want. This takes some time. I have updated the original post to clarify how this process works. Once you have completed the download, you can then view your titles offline.
Hope that helps.
I'm having the same problem on two iPod Touches.
For sake of diagnosis, I'm using an iPhone 3GS and have no problems.

To help the debug effort, I had it working initially on my iphone 3G then the error couldn't load book appeared and then no library reading plans etc. On the other hand I have it on my ipod touch as well and have not had any problems yet. Hope this input helps you guys figure out the problem.

Are you in airplane mode, or not? Here are my steps:
1. Download books.
2. Turn on airplane mode.
3. Launch Logos (getting this warning)
4. I then click on my library, and can see the books I downloaded.
7. I can then read these two books.
8. Turning airplane mode off, I can then interact with the app as usual.
Hope this helps. If not, as Phil said, we'll get on this first thing in the morning.
I've got the same problem. I'm not sure the server is down. I can read one book (the last one I was reading before I upgraded). Scrolling through it works, except I often get messages saying it can't connect to the server. Yet when I click OK, I can continue.

An update: Switching WiFi off gave me access to all my books again. With WiFi on, I have no access. I very much doubt this is a firewall issue, as I had no problems with 1.1

Sure hope it's just a server problem (i.e. too many people downloading their books at once!)
It's not a server problem, it's a bug in the software. It won't use your WiFi connection to download. Once they fix the bug, all your resources and reading plans will come back. (If you had an iPhone you could switch WiFi off to 'solve' the problem, but that of course won't work with an iPod.)

It's strange, I can access all resources on WiFi, and download a few and read offline too. iphone 3GS.

I too have tried the various suggestions posted here. I don't think this has anything to do with offline mode unless the app is somehow stuck in offline mode. Connectivity type (Wifi, 3G) makes no difference here... I tried reinstalling like Jason and I got the error message "error loading book" even before signing in. I have no books in my library no matter how I connect... this is going to be really annoying if I've lost use of the app until Logos gets the next update through apple's approval process
I do not add a posting here to heap coals on the heads of the Logos team, but rather to share my own experience in hopes that this assists with troubleshooting.
Last night (11PM ET?) I could at least check my reading plan, and read the NASB95. No apparent problems. This morning, no reading plans (just the Christmas Specials topic). No books.
I checked the forums and noticed the upgrade to Logos 1.2 on the iPod/iPhone, so I installed that. It seems to have gotten worse.
"Read" takes me to a fragment of Genesis (where I was reading a few days ago) but once I try to page beyond where I was reading I get the "loading" dial-spin (I don't know what this icon is really called, but I hope you understand what I mean) and a message that the resource could not be loaded, then a white screen for a short while, followed by an automatic exit from the App (abend?). Search yields no results, etc. There is 'no there there' as they say.
My device is an iPod Touch, 32GB, running 3.1.2 (7D11) of the iPhone/Touch operating system. My connections are always via WiFi.
I look forward to the resolution so I can once again have this fine addition to my 'armor'.
God bless,
Steve
Let me clarify. I am not speaking of an issue with downloading and looking at books offline. There are no books in my library at all, whether using WiFi or 3G.
I am not complaining, I have no room to. This is a free app, which gives me the advantage of viewing some (alot!) of my library while on the run. It is a perk to being a part of the whole Logos community.
The only reason I posted was to make sure that I wasn't the only one experiencing this.
Thanks to all for confirming this is a seemingly broad issue. Seems like it's up to Logos (& possibly Apple) to help us get through this one. [:)]
The App has become empty and useless. Cannot go to the library, recent books or anything after downloading the ESV Bible. I made sure it finished downloading before quitting the App (airplane icon appeared).
Here a screenshot of what I see, and probably all of you, when loading the App.
Tried resetting the iPhone, uninstalling, reinstalling, logging out, etc... nothing works.
So frustrating and I guess it will require another update to fix this bug.
Any workarounds?
Actually, this may just be a server issue. I tried loading bible.logos.com, and I get a big error, and nothing else. Maybe their servers are just down...
Edit: Forgot to add that I was having this problem _before_ I updated. I thought I might be having network issues, so was messing, and decided to try launching the App store to see if it had network, and not only did it have it, but I saw Logos had an update, so I tried installing it to see if that would fix my problem--it didn't. So, it's not an update issue, it most certainly is a server issue.

Same issue with me. iPhone 3GS, latest OS 3.1.2. Had the previous version of Logos with no issues. Updated at 10:40 EST using the Apple Store App on the iPhone itself (not through iTunes). Using 3G and NOT in Airplane mode.
No books display, nor are they accessible. Get the same error as the screenshot above.

[screenshot with the error "Error loading book - Logos could not load the specific book - OK"]
1. Many times the books are ?incompletely downloaded - or else there is some corrupt pointer problem. This gives the "Error loading book - Logos could not load the specific book - OK" error message that you mentioned.
2. The workaround I found, seems to be: to open the downloaded book, and then navigate to several locations (e.g. using the navigation bar), before quitting the application to go to offline mode and load the app again (for testing or whatsoever). It appears that only those books which are downloaded and read will open correctly in offline mode.
3. If the app happens to crash, it may create a ?pointer problem such that thereafter the app will not open properly again. My guess is it ?crashes again trying to open the last opened book at a corrupted location. Anyway, this happened to me just now - I now have an app that loads, displays the home screen - with the reading plans and so on - then a page is ?rendered at the back (I see something like "Chapter 28" behind the phone status bar), and 5 seconds or so later the app crashes. I'm sure it's not a server problem this time as I have two devices to test on and the other works nicely. Here's the screenshots of the app open -> crash sequence that I described:
Now I have to reinstall the app and re-download all books. [:'(]
I hope the above would help with the debugging of the app...
Regards, Amy
i have the same problem. thinking it's a minor issue on Logos' end. i'm pretty sure it'll be fixed by morning (their time), if not sooner
