EBNE Question
Here's a side question about the EBNE. Ben mentioned something about a software update that was coming after the EBNE was released that would allow for more features, plus I've heard the EBNE seeds the timeline with more data, etc. Has that software update been released yet?
Thanks!

I am fairly sure Ben had said this was something coming latter on.... I am not 100% sure if anything will be happening to the Compton's till after the scholarly Britannica is published. It has been said they wish to get the BENE out ASAP and it is the top priority.

Ben Amundgaard said:One quick note on this: because we wanted to get this out to people as fast as possible, we're shipping it before the software update that will expose LCV and Timeline data. This update should ship within ~2 weeks of the resource's ship date. It shouldn't affect things too much, but I wanted to give you a heads up.
I've emphasized the pertinent information. Even with all that has transpired since Ben Amundgaard wrote the post from which I have quoted, still I would expect that the metadata he was referring too is present in the resource that shipped.

I remember that now. Thanks for refreshing my memory!

Ben: Did Logos 6.7 unlock this? Just wondering.
Thanks!

I am not sure.... I have been a bit disappointed over the news on EBNE, I understood it taking a little longer but we are going on a fair amount with no real information...

Did "the new product page" ever go live? It hasn't come down my PrePub RSS feed yet.

Nope. They said they would fast-track it.

Hi All,
I've been trying to get as much information out as possible and I'm sorry if I've not communicated enough. Honestly, we are trying to fast track it as much as we can. We probably have two people working on this project for some amount of time every day. This project is different than the types of things we are used to doing where we get one book or set of books and go through and produce it. The trouble is that there are so many articles (80,000+) that it's hard to make sure we have all the right content and then, if we are missing any, it takes more time to get it from Britannica. We are trying to learn from the mistakes we made on the original project.
So, I don't know what to say other than that we are doing everything we can to get this moving forward.
I really appreciate your patience (if it hasn't run out [;)])

Thanks for posting. What about the original topic - when will the update which will expose the new metadata ship?

I did figure as much and little blurbs here and there are better than nothing. You did paint yourself into a corner saying you hoped to get it up early next week... but I understand what one hopes is a small matter to do up can quickly grow to a most unwieldy size. I look forward to hearing about it when you can, but I know until everything is in place to actually do the project it can end up that you run the risk of someone feeling misled. And while somewhat disappointingly it can not be the entire EB, you do want to ensure Biblical subjects and the humanities are fully covered. It would be rather disappointing for example if Bible or Freud or Plato were one of the articles that you were not allowed to have (at which point I would hope you could argue the need for them in a Noet release of the EB).

Ben: Did the long awaited metadata update ship with Logos 6.7 or are we still awaiting this? Also Ben, can you refresh my memory all what this update was supposed to unlock (I think Factbook and Timeline support)?

Hello!
Is there any update on the actual release of EB? From the initial response of Logos, I was under the impression that the actual EB would be ready soon. I only see under NOET as still gathering interest. Not sure how much longer I would have to wait for the item I already purchased...
Thanks.

It is verified that it is being worked on. I am not sure why to has never been updated to saying under development but that is it's status, we have been told there will be over 80,000 articles. How long it takes to get it completed is something only Ben or someone else from FL would have a clue about.

According to the official response initially given here, it says it would be ready this year! (Only 13 days left :-)
- Keep Compton's and wait for Encyclopedia Britannica. If you're happy to have access to Compton's now and wait for Encyclopedia Britannica to be delivered later this year, you don't need to do anything. Enjoy access to Compton's now and wait patiently as we build Encyclopedia Britannica. You're paid in full and won't be charged for anything else.

There should have had a hopefully in there (I updated the original post). The original estimates were that we could have it finished by the end of the year, but it took much longer than we originally planned to get all the files, verify we had 100% of what we were supposed to, etc. That added some extra time to production. Sorry for the delay. I'll check to see if we have a rough estimate.

Yeah I figured that was the case, but in the back of my mind I recalled your "later this year" so I was hopeful ;-)
Looking forward to it!
