I have updated my Index of Bible Studies
I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this. It is one of the most useful tools I have in Logos and just today I logged on wondering when it was last updated. What a huge surprise to see that you have just updated it. Thanks so much

Start the Index Bible Studies.exe program, which will open Logos (if it is not already open), read the names of all the books in your library, and then create a file My Index Bible Studies.rtf in your Documents directory. Open that file in Word or another word processor, and then save it as a docx file. Then create a personal book from that docx file.
This is great, thanks. Super helpful. Now I need to find a Windows machine somewhere to generate an index for my own library...

Here is another update to the Index. It contains another 1,500 links, mainly to the journals that are in Portfolio (thanks to a Connect trial), and free or very cheap books in the past six months. Read my message at the bottom of the previous page of this thread for instructions on how to use it.

I am getting an error in compiling.
Getting the books in your library runs fine.
Creating your index of Bible Study is when the error appears. The message states:
Error finding your books. Probably Logos was closed. Please restart the program and do not close Logos.
Logos is not and does not close, so I am unsure what is causing the problem. I tried 3 times.
Any suggestions?

I get the same error when I run your exe file. I tried erasing the previous index file I created last time and got the same error. It seems to work through all my collection and then gives the error. Following that it did indicate it was indexing but the index file was the old one.

Sorry about that! There was one extra space in the file, that the MyIndex program could not cope with. Here are the corrected versions.

I don't know, it is working for me now. Are you sure you are running the new version? The program "Index Bible Studies.exe" should be dated June 9 at 0.27am. (Although I'm not sure if the date and time get translated in a different time zone, but in any case the minutes should still be 27. The previous version has 53 minutes in its time stamp.)

Yes I downloaded the latest and ran that one. I wonder if there is a cache that I need to clean out or something. I note that I tried the old version that worked a year ago and got the same error yesterday. So that might indicate that some cache might need to be cleaned out.

Richard, this really is an incredible help.
Just for the fun of it, I ran a Logos concordance against my compiled PB and found you now include 56,875 references - for some reasons, the concordance only assigns 54,685 of those to the 1,689 books indexed. I do wonder if it is possible to build a collection of those books, also to find books that are not yet in the index and maybe create supplemental information to it.
Incidentally, I saw that I don't own the book with the most number of references in the index (one homily for a verse from every chapter of the bible), which reads like a great resource and goes for only $18:

So I identified the problem. Once I disabled bitdefender antivirus, the program compiled correctly. Thanks again Richard for keeping this updated.

Our Daily Homily is an important book in the Index, as it means that there is at least one link for every chapter, and so I can put a milestone tag for every chapter. There are still some chapters with only one link in them, for example Leviticus 27, Numbers 18, and 2Chronicles 4.

The second, according to https://wiki.logos.com/PB_%E2%80%93_Warnings_$26_Errors#Unknown_Datatype , is because the Personal Book links to books that you do not have. If you want to avoid this error, you can create a personal Index of Bible Studies that contains only the books you own. The previous messages in this thread explain how to do that.

Yes, this adds inestimable value to any library. It should be 'sticky'd' to the top of the Files forum for new users to see and for everyone to be reminded to rerun after every base package/bundle purchase.

Here is an update to my Index of Bible Studies, with the addition of the contents of a couple of Logos 8 packages and a few other books I have added to my library. I will repeat here the instructions to use it:

This file contains links to sermons, meditations, outlines, journal articles, Bible study guides, and more that do not appear in the Passage Guide. (Exception: some sermons now appear in the Passage Guide, but did not when I started, and I thought I would not remove them.) It is useful especially when preparing Bible studies or sermons on a certain passage, to find more ideas on the passage from your library that you could use.
To install the Index, download the Index Bible Studies.docx file, then use the Personal Books tool of Logos to create a new personal book. You can use whatever title you like, but it is best to set the type to "Bible commentary". On page 3 of this thread you can find a book cover that you can optionally use.
The index contains the books in my Logos library – there is a list of the included books at the end of the Index Bible Studies.docx file. Naturally, I can not include books that are in your library but not in mine. However, it is possible to exclude books that are in my library but not in yours, which makes the resulting personal book easier to use. This is possible only in Windows; the Mac version of Logos does not allow it. To do this, download and unzip the MyIndex.zip file. There should then be two files in a directory. Start the Index Bible Studies.exe program, which will open Logos (if it is not already open), read the names of all the books in your library, and then create a file My Index Bible Studies.rtf in your Documents directory. Open that file in Word or another word processor, and then save it as a docx file. Then create a personal book from that docx file.

A few statistics: there are now 1730 Logos resources included and almost 60,000 links, with more than 3,000 new links since the previous version in June. Most of these new links come from one resource, Handfuls on Purpose, which now has the record of being the most linked resource (1791 links). Second with 1189 links is Our Daily Homily, then the Keller Sermon Archive with 1179. The Spurgeon Sermon Collection actually has more links (3667), but in Logos they are divided between 63 different resources.
