I finally caved and installed the testflight version but that one crashes too. I sent the logs to Kevin Byford but looking at the log it doesn't really say much except my device info.
I know the ipad mini can't install or run any apps with AR features. Could that be something related to the crashing here?
The TestFlight and the AppStore versions of 8.0.1 are the same.
To recap, working fine currently on your iPhone but not our your iPad? This may be related to which resources are downloaded on the device. I'll be looking through our crash reports, but re-installing the app may help.
Yes sir. Working on my iPhone 7 running iOS 11.4.1 but NOT working on my iPad mini running 12.1. For the record I download a ton of resources onto my iPad because I'm not always near wifi. I deleted the app and will redownload on my iPad... this makes me sad but I'll get it done. I'm worried I'll run into this issue again though when I start redownloading all my resources.
Update: Deleting and Reinstalling has seemed to fix it for me on my iPad mini. Stable at moment but it is doing an immense amount of thinking and reconfiguring so if it crashes I'll let you know... waiting for cards and notes to transfer over.
My question now is... how should I proceed? Do I not download any resources? Do I download in pieces and if it crashes uninstall/reinstall all over again? This seems like it would be a tedious process
If you do download books you may find what I have found that specific items causes Logos 8.0.1 to crash. In my case Stromateis Book One to Three (Catholic University of America). I have tried more than once and it always crashes. I can use 'Reset Workspace' to reset and remove it. I make sure each download functions correctly before attempting another one. I would never have installed Verbum 8 for iOS had I known. Would like to go back to 7.
Is this the right place to post for the FL Ebooks? If so:
The Ebooks Reader App (once known as Vyrso) is crashing on all my devices. iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7plus, iPad mini. I can log in and then....Bang...Pow...Crash. Reinstalling goes as far as logging in, opening the bible and then...she goes belly up.
Edit: Update
By reinstalling and logging on with a test account everything works for that test account. Log into my own account and it crashes. the behavior is the same on all my devices mentioned above. So it might be an issue with my account?
My Logos Bible app works fine. The Ebook Reader crashes every time.
Am I the only one? If so, maybe I need to call in....
Verbum is broken again. It may be linked to one book (Aristotle, volume 1) which crashes on opening.
”Reset Workplace“ seems to work to make it stop crashing, and I didn’t lose my library. But this never happened before the current version.

Update 2: My app has been fairing ok since the update but it is still crashing at times. Don't get me wrong, it is usable but I've had it crash while: a note is processing, reading, and switching tabs so I'm not quite sure what is causing it.
Also, highlights are SLOW. The first highlight I make is quick but ones after that can take up to a minute or more to display. Secondly, My dictionary feature is all off. I selected a word yesterday to get a definition and it pulled the definition from an Osborne commentary and I know I have my English dictionaries prioritized higher than that and yes they are downloaded. Finally on more resources than not, when I open a book I can only view a portion of it, e.g. can only scroll up and down about a page, like it is stuck loading/downloading. This is on downloaded resources too. To fix I force close the app and when it reloads it is fine.
I wrote to soon. While the app launches and I've been able to re-download resources I now suffer from another issue reported on another forum - the blank screen issue which can strike at any time. I may be able to open a resource and read it but switch to another and I get just a white screen. I've refreshed the app and the background to it. I've hard started the iPad. Nothing fixes this.
I'm simply going to wait for the fix. I have Android phones and tablet, so I'm not under pressure.

David, thank you very much for this information, it was most helpful. The crash in Stromateis will be fixed in the release following 8.0.2 (which hopefully will come out today). If there are other specific resources you notice crash the app when downloaded, let me know and I'll make sure the fix works for them as well.

I'm not sure about resource-specific crashes. Using the tool within the app, I reported multiple crashes. I got a prompt response saying that a release was coming which would fix some crashes. I've downloaded the latest version (yesterday), but it crashed again fairly quickly this morning.
iPad Pro 10.5 128GB RAM wifi only, iOS 11.4.1
I can't remember for sure if it's every crash, but the majority (6-7 at this point, 1 since the update) have been when I'm simply reading the downloaded ESV. I touch the right margin to advance a page, and nothing happens. At that point, the app is completely unresponsive. I can use the home button to get back to iOS. When I return to the app, within about 15 seconds it crashes.
Hope that helps,
Donnie
Le me point out again that on the Ebooks app, when I created a test account, I was able to log in and operate without crashing. I had only the default initial books downloaded which I think is none. I added starter package to the test account thinking to download a little variety. All was well. I downloaded KJV--all was well.
That is as far as I got before my wife wanted her phone and iPad back. So I reinstalled the apps, logged on in her account so she could try one more time to do her reading in the app.
1. The app loads fine the first time.
2. I can log in.
3. Gears turn, engines hum and all looks well. Then after a while---CRASH!
4. Subsequent starts make a valiant effort to get up and running but inevitably never clear the runway. Crash.
This behavior is the same for an iPad mini, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus.
The iOS Verbum is mostly functionsl but has there problems not present in the pre-8 version:
these are all with downloaded books.
I‘m using a Mini 4 with 128gb storage and have about 50gb free.

You and I have the same device though I have more free space... Mini problem?

Well, it worked fine before the update to version 8. So it may be that the updated app doesn’t play nicely with the Mini 4 hardware.
as for free space, I’m also carrying 40gb of mp3.

I agree with you there... I wish I could revert back. Resetting workspace is becoming tiresome and my battery is draining from the constant force close and restarts
Verbum 8.0.2 is more stable but there are still problems.
Stromateis still crashes after download. Anti-Nicene Fathers 2, 4, 6 & 7 also crash immediately after download. All require a workspace reset and removal.
David,
i can confirm this when the resource is downloaded. But if not downloaded the app does not crash.
Sorry if this has already been covered in this thread, but, even after the most recent Logos update every time I try to open the Logos app. on my iPad Pro & iPad Air they both crash.
I am really wanting to buy some resources right now, but cannot open the app. Oddly, the app. opens fine on my iPhone 6 Plus (?). Not sure if this is a noted issue or not, but it started after the most recent Apple update and the most recent Logos update did not fix it (though it did fix my eBooks app. from crashing).
Edit: Okay, so after I posted the above I saw where someone suggested to Reset Workspace in the Logos App. I did this and it is at least staying open for now, but I am unfamiliar with this option. Do I need to keep this feature on for the Logos App. to work?
Thank you much!
Likewise. (Forgive me if I repeat what's been said earlier.) Despite two Logos updates on my iPhone X, full IOS update and resetting workspace in settings, iPhone app has crashed every time since L8 rollout. Funny thing is, app works fine on my iPad Mini 4. Looking forward to when issues with iPhone X will be resolved.
“Reset Workspace“ automaticall turns off after you do it.
Correct, I went back to check and it’s off, but, oddly enough, my Logos app. seems to be functioning correctly after I did that.

Just when I was about to aquire the new large iPhone they just rolled out 😏. Good to know, think I’ll wait until they have all of the bugs worked out first.
Also, I received the email today saying Logos would do an update tomorrow, but I could do it myself if I wanted to following these instructions:
How to update Logos
When you are connected to the internet, type “update now” (without quotes) in the Command Box, then press Enter. Logos will automatically update you to the most recent version of Logos 7.
I don’t see a “command box” in either my app. or their site (?). Or, will this take place automatically tomorrow?

I don’t see a “command box” in either my app. or their site (?)
The "update now" command relates to the desktop not mobile apps.
For mobile apps - on iOS - updates appear in the App store.

Ahh, I suspected so. Thank you.
Incidentally, not sure if I am doing something wrong, but when I downloaded the Logos app. onto my MacBook Air everytime I open it another Logos icon opens to the right of my doc. (at the bottom) and that’s the one that opens (?). And, a Logos emblem appears at the top right of my screen-proper (not just the top like where the time & WiFi connection appear). Not sure if I need to delete and start all over (as you can likely tell I’m new to Logos, but love it so far) - or if this is common w. Macs (?).
I also have Olive Tree, but do not have this issue w. them.
Can you please explain what the "Reset Workspace" toggle does? I'm assuming there are pros & cons to using it?
Resetting the workspace resets all the currently open tabs to the "default" set of tabs created when first installing the application. The intention is to be able to work around any problematic tabs that are causing issues. Hope that helps.
So, why do updates keep going to my iPad 4, which doesn't crash, and not to my iPhone X which still does and needs another update very badly?
Ben, I'm sorry you are still having problems. Most likely, it has to do with which resources you have open on one device vs. the other. We have another update in the pipeline, currently waiting on Apple for review.

Still not sure I get it. Do I lose my layouts? Do the tabs open in my layouts get changed? I have no idea what the default set of tabs might be when first installing the app - that was way too long ago.
Thanks again,
Donnie

Resetting the workspace will not affect layouts (new in v8). The default layout on the Bible app depends on whether you are on a tablet or phone, but is typically the LEB linked with the FSB and a Text Comparison tab.

I am also still having problems. My iPad app crashes numerous times throughout the day and is also plagued with black screen and locked scrolling issues. My iPhone on the other hand doesn't seem to have these issues. I download resources onto my iPad as well. Are you thinking it is a download resource issue or an iPad mini issue?
Are you thinking it is a download resource issue or an iPad mini issue?
There are certain issues with downloaded resources that should be resolved in 8.0.3 (currently in review by Apple). If you want to try the TestFlight build, that was pushed out to the public this morning (install TestFlight app, open https://testflight.apple.com/join/ftLCn5d6 on device).
There are some memory issues that could potentially be affecting the iPad mini that we are investigating as well. I've brought in an old iPad mini this morning and plan to do some investigation.

Thank you Todd for taking the time to figure this out. If it helps I have the latest iPad mini gen 4 with 128gb. Definitely not the oldest iPad mini but I believe apple discontinued them so an upgrade might be in order if you determine it is the device.
