Carta!

Dan, I based my assumption based on a blog post by Accordance stating “Resources you’ll only find in Accordance...” and Carta was mentioned among others. Concerning the meme or pepe (I call it smiley face) I do not know or have searched of any instance in the internet where it’s used in a negative sense. To me it’s just a bigger smiley face that reminds me of the Mask movie played by Jim Carry a long time ago. When a friend sent it it stuck, same as this other one —-> 👍😁👌
“Don” worry about Quijote‘s reference Nothing negative came to mind 👍😁👌
Good night!

Just an observation: Funny how this thread started in November 2010 and FL’s first response came virtually 5 years later in October 2015. Then a less optimistic response on 2017 and the other less optimistic responses earlier this year in March 2018.
5 years of silence and then essentially nothing if you really think about it.
No wonder all the desperation!
Let me see what I can do, but no promises, ok.
I’ll post next week 👍😁👌 if they respond to my email. I may even call to see if I can get through, but don’t hold your breath!

It may just be a "smiley face" to you, but its general usage isn't very nice, to say the least. I believe you're a better person than what the meme represents.
As for Carta, I don't want to assume that FL's silence means that Carta isn't coming to Logos.
Some might see no news as bad, others might see no news as good. People simply have different ways of looking at things like that.
Either way, whether or not Carta comes to Logos, these temporary things don't compare to the marvelous light of His glory! Hallelujah!
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Well, the general problem everywhere is that a happy customer will stop the progress.
Therefore we have to keep this thread alive...

Isn't it annoying when we are trying to be servants, and they treat us like...well, like servants.
I think it was Corrie ten Boom who was asked, "How do you know if you have a servant's heart?" Her answer was that you will know when someone treats you like a servant.
How would you respond if you were in a restaurant, and asked a waiter a question, and the waiter's response was a snarky, "I have already answered that"?
If you don't want to answer questions, yes, sometimes the same question over and over, you do not need to be harming Logos by doing a snarky job of it.
Just my opinion.

You’re kind of late with your opinion Michael, but it’s ok. 👌 I’ll be posting soon with a fresh response or I might even be able to get a FL employe to do that 👍😁👌

My reaction to that image is the same as yours Petah. Not positive at all. Every time I see it pop up in this thread I cringe.

I had to laugh when I saw it, because it struck me as classic DAL. And yeah, it is the universal internet meme for snark. And he tried to pass it off as a smiley! lol

That just shows that you know too much and I don’t. Besides any smiley face can mean anything you want it to mean because as far as that goes, the meanings are subjective. To me is just a smiley face that reminds me of the movie the mask, to you it may mean some pervert guy, so maybe you need to stop watching pervert’s stuff online.
👍😁👌
Ps. I called Bill and left a message and the week is almost over, and no news yet. He must be very busy with Carta meetings or perhaps his sweating bullets because he doesn’t know how to tell you guys that Carta doesn’t wanna have anything to do with Logos. He can post when he can, I was just trying to do you guys a favor in trying to get an update from him directly.

DAL that comment was out of line. I never have and never will personally attack you or anyone else on this board. All I said was that "smiley face" was not positive in my opinion.

Then I truly apologize for that. But I don’t think is fair for anybody to assume I know something just because you know it. The meaning of things is subjective even for religious things. Too many people see the star of David, a Jewish object, as something bad, but I cannot say is bad just because other people think it’s bad, the same applies to my funny smiley face. You cringe, I smile. I don’t surf the net for negative things unless I have to, And even then I have not found anything negative on this smiley face. I tried to search after people started saying it was bad, but found nothing bad. Maybe you can provide a link So I can be up-to-date with the different meanings of different smi faces. 👍😁👌

Ps. Family Guy is bad but there was a guy here before that had the Family Guy picture on his profile.

I have no pony in this race really. FL historically has done less than a stellar job with graphic resources ...
I'd bet you nailed it. And my use of A-Company is almost wholely higher-res media. Especially the archaeology pics. Carta'd be crazy to degrade their media. Guessing.

$13 a month online seems a bit hefty. Granted, maybe I own 18 months of Carta-related.

If this is the case, maybe there's a connection betwee the prophesied Logos 8 and the introduction of Carta? Increased graphical quality and capabilities dovetailing with Cartas materials?
I have no knowledge of this, of course, just speculating."The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected."- G.K. Chesterton

I haven't asked about Carta in a while, because $$$ (L8 purchase + planned L8 library expansion purchase).
Still, I'm hoping we'll hear something favorable about Carta, and eventually be able to purchase it in Logos... this year? [:D]

I’ll go start the fire 🔥 you get some rope and a nice stake. This Bill guy must be very busy. He never got back to me, not even out of curtesy; So he’s the first one getting burnt on a stake if no updates are given. At least a “No CARTA in 2019 either, so check back next year.” That’ll keep people off his back for at least another year (if he’s smart, he’ll take the hint) 👍😁👌

According to Bradley he was going to be out of his office until October 5th. Unless he left later on, then I wouldn’t know. If he left, he probably knew the wrath was coming 😂😜🤪

I can confirm that, after 25 years of faithful service, Bill left Logos at the end of October to take on an exciting new ministry opportunity in another organization.
I've been in touch with the person who I understand has taken over his role to ask them about the current status of things. I continue to remain hopeful that some sort of deal can be reached that would benefit both Faithlife and Carta.

The Carta Bible Atlas is a newer edition of the Macmillan product. I have the revised Macmillan Bible Atlas from 1977 and the 5th ed. of the Carta Bible Atlas still contains those features you liked—still in the two color style for the maps.
