LUKE TIMOTHY JOHNSON
LUKE TIMOTHY JOHNSON
I am looking at The Teaching Company’s download of CD’s on Luke Timothy Johnson’s book, Early Christianity: The Experience of the Divine. Has anyone heard this lecture series or can you tell me if Johnson is a credible scholar as far as early church history goes? Please don’t laugh at that, I know that he has won several awards, but is he one who can be trusted to be “faithful to the faith,” or does he go flying off into never, never land like some other “Christian scholars” who are also recognized as being credible by many, even though they disagree with the Bible in the name of modern scholarship?
I don’t have a lot of time to sit and read books about history, too busy studying the Word itself. But I would love to learn more about church history. So I am looking for some CDs or mp3s to listen to while I am driving or walking. Any suggestions? Johnson, yes? or Johnson, no?
