What are Favorites?
Favorites in Logos are like favorites that you add in Internet Explorer or other browser programs, as it allows you to store
locations to resources. Similarly, you can create folders and organize your favorites. You can save Bible study resources,
clippings, layout and such for a particular Bible study in a Favorites folder with a hierarchy of sub-folders.
This tool also includes Bookmarks but this is discussed in another wiki.
How do I view Favorites?
- Click on the Tools menu.
- Click on Favorites in the drop down menu.
How do I create Folders?
- Open the Favorites tool.
- Click on the Add button in the top of the Favorites window
- Click the New Folder button.
- Rename the New Folder when it appears.
or
- Open the Favorites tool.
- Right-click and select Add new folder
- Rename the New Folder when it appears.
- Note Both methods will tend to create sub-folders.
To create a New Folder at the top level:- click in clear space before clicking New Folder
- right-click in clear space before applying Add new folder.
- In general:
- if a Favorite is selected, a new folder will be created at the same level.
- if a folder is selected, the new folder will be a sub-folder.
Nesting Folders
Nesting a folder means to place a folder inside another Folder. This is very useful in organizing your favorites:
- Open the Favorites tool.
- Drag the required folder, and
- Drop it on top of the folder where you want it to be nested.
How do I add resource favorites?
Adding Resource links
- Select the destination in Favorites.
- Click the Add button.
- Select the required favorite from Open panels.
- right-click the favorite to Rename it.
Dragging a resource tab
- Expand the destination folder if necessary
- Drag the tab of your favorite directly into Favorites
- the solid bar will indicate the location.
- you can press the Esc key to abort the operation.
- Drop the favorite at the desired location
- the tab you have dragged along will revert to its original location.
- right-click to Rename it.
Using the keyboard
This is particularly useful if the resource is in a floating window.
- Select the destination folder/sub-folder.
- Click on a resource tab.
- Press Ctrl+D/Cmd+D on the keyboard.
Examples of adding links to Favorites
Adding a link from your Library
You can add a link to a book directly from your Library.
This is useful when you want to open the book to the active reference from another book e.g. for a Bible or Commentary.
- Open the Favorites tool if necessary.
- Open your Library.
- Locate the resource that you want to add to Favorites.
- Drag the resource Title and drop it into the desired folder in Favorites.
- It will open to the previous location or an active reference in your layout.
- Right-click to Rename it.
Adding Internet links to Favorites
- Open the Favorites tool if necessary.
- Open your browser to the link that you want to add.
- Drag the icon (next to the address) into Favorites and drop it into a folder.
- Right-click to Rename it.
Adding a link to a Word document
You can add a link to a Microsoft Word document (or Excel & PowerPoint documents, or Pages).
- Open the Favorites tool if necessary.
- Open Windows File Explorer, or macOS Finder, and navigate to your document.
- Drag the required file and drop it into a folder in Favorites.
- Right-click to Rename it.
Adding a link to Notes
You can add a link to your Notes in Favorites.
- Open the Favorites tool if necessary.
- Open your Notebook from the Documents menu.
- Arrange the content as required.
- Drag the Notes tab and drop it at the appropriate location in Favorites.
- Right-click to Rename it.
Adding a link to any Document
You can add a link to any of your documents in Favorites.
- Open the Favorites tool if necessary.
- Open the Documents menu.
- Click on the document that you want as a favorite.
- Drag the document name and drop it at the appropriate location in Favorites.
- Right-click to Rename it.
Adding a link to a Layout
You can add a link to any of your named Layouts in Favorites.
- Open the Favorites tool if necessary.
- Open the Layouts menu.
- Click on any of your Saved Layouts (on the left side of the Layout window).
- Drag the desired Layout and drop it in the Favorites window.
Adding a link to Factbook
- Open the Favorites tool if necessary.
- Generate the required article in Factbook e.g. a Topic, Theme, Person, Place.
- Drag the Factbook tab and drop it in Favorites.
- Right-click to Rename it.
Adding a link to a program
You can add links to various programs in your operating system.
In Windows, you need a shortcut for the program, and most shortcuts can only be created on the Desktop.
- Resize the Logos window so that you can see your Desktop.
In macOS, open Finder - Drag the shortcut icon and drop it in Favorites.
In macOS, drag the app icon from Finder - Right-click to Rename it.
How do I delete a link in Favorites?
- Right click on the link in Favorites.
- Click on Delete.
- This can be undone by clicking on the following pop-up.
When you create a shortcut on the Shortcuts bar, you may have noticed that your tool opens to the previous or active location.
If you create a Favorite from the shortcut, it will have the same properties as the shortcut.
But when you save a favorite directly from an open tool it remembers the specific location in the tool.
So when using a favorite built from a shortcut you now have the flexibility of opening to your current location.
The power of Favorites
Your layout projects can be saved in, and refreshed from Favorites.
- By organizing using folders you can locate multiple projects in Favorites.
The folder New Testament contains projects about the New Testament books.
- The folder Luke contains projects that fall under the bible book of Luke.
- Jesus Birth is a project under Luke.
The folder can be collapsed or expanded as needed. - These are other projects under Luke.

The layout will remember where each tab is located and the exact position/reference in each resource when it was saved.
You can refresh the layout from this link, as well as refresh individual tabs from their links (below). - This is a link to the Text Comparison tool.
Changing the Bibles or verse range in the layout won’t affect this link. - This is a link to the main Bible reference.
- This is a link to a Clippings document.
You can link as many clippings as you want to your project,
but it may be more effective to have one Clippings document for the project with many clips and Notes as needed. - This is a link to a Notebook for the project.
It can contain as many notes/highlights as you wish. - This is a link to a Bible verse in Isaiah foretelling the virgin birth.

You can have multiple links for other cross-references.
